Catherine Joyce Spotted Bird started her Journey on October 13, 2016 she was born on June 28, 1942 in Poplar, MT born to John A Spotted and Virginia (Powell) Spotted Bird.
Catherine grew up on the Family Ranch northeast of Old Box Elder Creek and in the Brockton in her early years she loved riding her favorite horse a big ole Palomino.
Catherine went to school in Brockton. She graduated in 1959. Afterward graduating she went to Nursing school on Los Angeles, CA. She worked at A & S gun factory while working she went to night school at NAES college and got her 2 year degree in Business Administration. In 1973 she started working for the Fort Peck Tribe in the Enrollment Department for 43 years retiring in May 2016, in that time she made a lot of friends.
Mom was a Pow-Wow person. She mostly followed her Brother Leland and the rest of the Badland Singers from Pow-wow to Pow-wow for years. She was there when the Badland Singers won their First International Singing Championship contest at the United Tribes in Bismarck, ND she was so proud of them.
Last year she also retired from the Badland Celebration Officers and Committee, she always had one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on there, she loved watching the Men All category contest and watching her grandson Warshield White.
Catherine is survived by her son Royce (Jackie) Spotted Bird, Sr. and daughter Candace A. Firemoon; adopted daughter Adreia (Decon) Spotted Bird and her brother Leland (Doris) Spotted Bird if Brockton, MT; adopted sisters Hazel Longee, Nancy S. Foote, Julia Young, and Sharon Roberts of Ada, Oklahoma; adopted brothers Tom Escarcega, Sr. and Sean Brown of Vancouver, British Columbia; adopted sons Tino White, Jr Draszt and Severt Young Bear; adopted daughters Maureen (Brad) GreyHawk, Tiny Draszt and Mavis Draszr whom she loved very much.
Preceding Catherine in passing are her daughter Janice Dean Spotted bird her mother Virginia (Powell) Spotted Bird, her father John A. Spotted Bird and her sisters Josephine Black Dog, Viola Spotted Bird, Carole Spotted Bird, Melvene White Bear and Elaine Spotted Bird and her brother Gerald Victor Spotted Bird, grandchildren Jonna Spotted Bird, Sherry Lynn McClammy and great-grandchildren Jenna Delaine Spotted Bird.
Catherine has so many relatives in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota too numerous to mention.
