William “Bill” Thomas Dasinger came into this world on November 28, 1947 and died unexpectedly in the early morning hours of November 29, 2016. Bill was born to Harry and Martha Dasinger in Wolf Point, Montana, and was the youngest of three sons. He was raised and educated in Wolf Point, in which upon graduation he received a football scholarship to Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Through a transfer, he relocated with his football career to MSU-Northern in Havre. He then went on to receive his MBA while at MSU-Billings in 1970. Soon after graduation, Bill married Bev Sonju and they welcomed a son, Shane (Dasinger) Johnson. They lived in Circle, MT, in which Bill taught history and coached high school wrestling and football.
Because of his passion of the great outdoors, years later Bill made his home back in Wolf Point. It is there where he met the love of his life, Marlys (Casterline) Dasinger. They were married on September 23rd, 1978. They were blessed with 3 more sons, Zachariah, Jordan, and Bridger.
Bill touched the lives of everyone he met with his generous and caring spirit. He will be remembered most by his charismatic personality and tender heart. He spent many years with the Walleyes Unlimited of Montana and twenty-plus years as a Hunter Safety Instructor. Bill was always ready for a hunt or a fishing trip and often had a story to follow the outing. The loves of his life were Marlys and pheasants and the pride he had for his four sons and cherished hunting dogs were immeasurable. Bill always had a smile on his face and appreciated life to its fullest.
Bill will be sorely missed by his wife Marlys of the family home, his sons Shane ( Kimberley) Johnson of Shelby, MT; Zachariah Dasinger of Laurel; Jordan (Callie) Dasinger of Jordan; and Bridger (Allison) Dasinger of Wolf Point; along with grandchildren Andrew and Bailey Johnson; Gentry, Brenner, and Dacie Dasinger; and another soon-to-be granddaughter that is expected any day. He also leaves a multitude of extended family and dear close friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Graveside services will follow immediately at the Casterline Family Ranch located 14 miles south of Wolf Point off Hwy 13 on JB road MM 40. A reception will follow the interment at Brett Bates’ Residence located on Hwy 528 near MM 2.

Bill was my cousin, more than that, he was my dear friend. We didn’t talk often but I loved when we connected and chatted with each other. His mother helped my mother prepare the wedding reception when I was married. He showed up about 10 minutes before the wedding ceremony, bringing the wedding napkins and a few other requested accessories. He wasn’t concerned but my aunt sure worried. He had taken the back roads to Sidney and looked for game and good fishing holes on his way. Typical Bill, I loved him and I’m praying for comfort and peace for Marlyce and the boys. He will be missed!!

Thoughts and prayers to the Dasinger family during this difficult time. Bill was a great man and always had a “Good Morning Nanc” for me when he came to get his paper. One of my memories of Bill is: how many pump handles he tore off at Agland West because he was busy visiting with someone and jumped in his vehicle and took off before he hung up his pump. Always made sure he came in and apologized to me. He will truly be missed by many.

The pure infectious joy that my friend and housemate injected into my life has stayed. In a bar in Juneau a pilot named Scott was telling stories of a hunting friend from Wolf Point. I added a couple before telling him I knew his subject well. The joy is tempered by tears this a.m. I cannot get there for his funeral. I will say what no one else has.
