Arnold Francis Douglas was born in Poplar, Montana on February 23, 1955 to Joseph and Christine (Davis) Douglas. He passed away in Billings on December 16, 2020 and entered into heaven. He grew up in Poplar on the “West End” and went to grade school there. He then went to Busby Boarding School in Busby, Montana until 7th grade. He then lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Earl Jones, Jr. He liked to go hunting with them.
When Arnold was 16, he and his nephew, Nathan Crazy Bull signed up for N.Y.C. (Neighborhood Youth Corps), a U.S. Government program at the time. The young ladies that did the paperwork put his birth year down as the same as his nephews, so that him 2 years older than he really was. In 1971, the war was still going on in Veitnam. He and his friend enlisted in the United States Marine Corps under a 180 day delayed plan that they had at that time. Arnold also asked his mother to sign a paper to let him join. After boot camp and some further training, he deployed with F.M.F. Pacific on the U.S.S. Vancouver out of Long Beach, California. Arnold served in the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Air Wing and Special Services. He served 3 years and was discharged.
Arnold spent 9 years (1974 to 1983) living a bad life of addictions until he asked God to forgive him of his sins and received Jesus as his Lord and Savior in September 1983.
Arnold always said that no matter what the trials or tribulations were in his life, after he got saved, the Lord always helped him and did not forsake him. Arnold and his two brothers, Leroy and Steve played Bass, Rhythm, and Lead Guitars. They sang for the Lord and played anointed music. Arnold worked on the Wolf Point Volunteer Ambulance in 1980’s as an E.M.T. on week-ends and nights and worked in the daytime at A.S. Industries until 1991. Arnold became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1998 and worked in many places in North Dakota and Montana. He also became a Licensed Addiction Counselor. He took the state boards in ½ the time and received a high score.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Sandy of many years; daughters, Mariah Dawn Douglas Old Person and Shaniah Rose Douglas; sisters, Vivian Jones, Louella (Mike) Contreras, Tara Douglas, and Mellissa Cantrell; brother Jeffrey; nephews, David Menz, William Jones, Larry Francisco, Emery Dwarf, and Isaac Miller; cousins, Agnes Ward and Rose Morsette; nieces Deanna (Sam) Red Star, Marta Jones, Earlene Jones, Michelle Clancy, Della Pipestem, Juanita Cantrell, Roseling Cantrell, Georgia Dupuis, Carla Cantrell, Anna Marie Crazy Bull, Ophelia Crazy Bull and numerous grandchildren. Other related families include the Eagle Boy family, Red Eagle family, Iron Bear family and the Johnson family.
Arnold is preceded in death by his brothers, Leroy, Steve, William, Duane, Jesse, and John Douglas; sisters, Mildred Clancy and Joanne White Eagle; and nephews, Nathan Crazy Bull and Clair Fourstar; and nephews Darrell Jones and Earl Jones II.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at Boxelder Cemetery.
