Carol Ann Clincher, 69, an elder and lifetime resident of Poplar, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Poplar Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ms. Clincher was born on August 17, 1950 in Poplar, MT to the late Mercy (Walking Eagle) MacDonald and the late Silas Clincher of Laurel, MT. She lived and attended Poplar Public Schools, graduating in 1968.
Soon after graduating, she married Leonard Youngman in Poplar. They were blessed with two children, a daughter Jo’e and a son Robin. They were given a chance to go on relocation to San Francisco, Oakland area, in California. They divorced later on.
She married Terry L. Boyd, Sr. They were blessed with one son, Kristofer I. Boyd. They later divorced.
Carol had a union with Gerald “Jerry” Miller, they later divorced but remained close friends. She was predeceased by special friend and companion until he passed, Norman “Hindu” Muskrat.
Carol worked for the Fort Peck Tribes in 1972, working in the administration department, where she learned how the tribes operate, typing the minutes of the meetings or the resolutions or resolution log. From there she went on to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs with Joan Broomfield, she worked in several offices at the B.I.A. Wolf Point Irrigation office in Wolf Point, MT., and TERO. She attended college briefly at Dawson Community College in Glendive, MT.
Carol gave her heart to the Lord and had a strong faith in Jesus. She was always known to have her Bible out and always prayed with everyone who needed it. Carol taught her children and grandchildren to call on the name of the Lord and always plead “the Blood!”

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Abraham and Ronnie Clincher; Victor “Buzz” Perry; two sisters Nancy Eagle & Bonnie Clincher Red Elk; nephews: Thomas & Jesse Montclair, Robert Delaine; Aunties: Fannie Kao, Irene Hollow Horn, Marie Summers, Mabel Chapman, Evelyn Smith all of Poplar; cousins Linda Boyd, Robert “Bobby” Longee and James Longee. Geraldine Barber. Carol was a descendent of the last Sioux Chief (for our area) John Lone Dog and his wife Lucy Lone Dog; grandmothers; Alice Lone Dog Smith, Karl & Nettie Walking Eagle; Leon Spotted Bull; adopted sister Minnie Two Shoes; daughter-in-law Jolene “Buffy” Shields of Poplar.Her Favorite Adopted dog: Bee.la the bulldog, you two can run and romp in heaven together.
Carol had so many friends she considered them all her family, as she never turned anybody down for anything, she carried so much love inside her, people seem to be drawn to her. Everyone knew her as “Gramma Carol”, you all know who you are. Thank you for being there as her friend & family.
Services will be a wake on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 7:00 pm and the funeral on Monday, Nov. 25 at 11:00 am all held at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar, MT. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements and condolences for the family can be left by using the form below.
