Charlene Kay Birdsbill (Zit’Caná Wiyán), of Wolf Point, Montana made her journey to the spirit world on November 29, 2022 at the Billings Clinic. She left surrounded by her family.
Charlene was born on July 24, 1961 in Poplar, Montana to Verdell Birdsbill and Barbara Swifteagle Birdsbill. Charlene had 2 siblings, Carmen and Colleen of which she was the baby.
Charlene grew up and attended school in Wolf Point, Montana. She graduated Wolf Point High School in 1979. A year later, she attended Billings VoTech with Michelle Sears in 1980. She worked with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 25 years and returned in February of 2014. She also enjoyed her second job, working at the Silverwolf Casino for many years. However, her favorite job was being a mom to her children.
Charlene had 3 children who she loved unconditionally. Elizabeth, Emorie, and Daniel. She was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. She was always feeding the missionaries and taking kids to church. Although she was always late, she stuck in the front row and always was there on potluck day, no matter what quizzed her kids after church.
She had many hobbies. She enjoyed visiting family and friends, laughing and having fun. She treasured her Sudoku books and used to really like bowling. She was always at the casinos playing machines. She loved reminiscing about her first base softball days, playing as the 10 lil’ Indians. She was always spoiling her grandkids.
Charlene had the gift of gab, always visiting and talking with anyhone who would chat with her. She had a heart of gold and always helped others when she could. She would give the shirt off of her back if it was needed. She truly was a fun and crazy spirit (something she was greatly loved for). Charlene is going to be deeply missed by all that love and know her.
She is survived by her mother, Barbara Birdsbill; daughters, Elizabeth Birdsbill, and Emorie (Charlie) Garfield of Wolf Point, Montana; her son, Daniel (Bushie) Healy of Billings, Montana; her sister, Colleen Birdsbill of Wolf Point, Montana; her partner in crime, (Kenneth) Jamie St. Marks of Wolf Point, Montana; her grandchildren, Karmyn Plainfeather, Heavenly Ellis, Madrox Healy, Aleecia, Huntley and Max Garfield, and Brycen Healy; her nieces, Margaret McCormack, Tamara Birdsbill, Loni (Kirk) Grant; grandchildren, Bailey, Avery, Christien, and Easton; niece, Courtney Reddies; nephew, Ben Reddies; grandchildren, Ricco, Reel, Lakealah, Rydell, Tade and Mae Belle; special sisters, Linda and Lois Weeks of Wolf Point, Montana; adopted sons, Lakota and Colter GrayHawk.
She is preceded in death by her father, Verdell Birdsbill; brother, Carmen Birdsbill; grandpas, Dan Swifteagle and Charlie Birdsbill; grandmothers, Mary Ann GreyBull and Nellie Silk; sister/friend, (Iris) Oosh Campbell and Leta Louise Smith (Weasel Cat).
A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, December 4 at the Wolf Point Community Hall. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 5 at the Wolf Point Community Hall. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
