Glad I got to visit Darrel a few times before he passed. Partied with him quite a few times back in the day/70s. I was there at football practice when he got the name. We were drilling. He was an offensive guard and we were running plays where the guard would pull and block. We had a practice dummy and Ron Harchak, our coach, told him to pretend that dummy was a cheeseburger. It stuck from that day on.
Doug Jager says
So many great memories . Cheeseburger was a great friend in the 70’s His family was always welcoming to me Leona, Dennis, and Doreen. played football with Cheese and got run over by the Cheesebuger Special a play just for him. Darrell and i drove to Regina to see Rush play in 1978 . Darrell threw his Post 22 baseball hat onstage and Geddy Lee picked it up and played “Working Man” while wearing it. God speed my friend you will be missed.
