Darrell James Red Dog Jr., age 34, of Poplar, MT, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Billings, MT due to an extended illness.
Darrell James Red Dog Jr. was born July 7, 1976 in Poplar to Darrell Red Dog Sr. and JoAnn Russell.
He grew up and attended schools in Poplar. He worked as a firefighter.
Darrell loved spending time with family and friends. He was a kind hearted and gentle person. He loved to laugh and bring laughter to others, and it is this quality that Jr. Bear will be remembered for most. He especially loved and cared deeply about his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, Roxanne, Antoinette, Brittany, Kristien, Tyler, Lane, Aeyana and Aiden.
He was very close with his sisters, Farrell Simons and Tracy Red Dog.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Red Dog, Sr.; his sister, Tammy Lynn Red Dog; nephew, Maurice Morsette; cousins, Deron and Derrick Red Dog; aunt, Karin Red Dog; uncle, Erroll Red Dog Sr.; paternal grandparents, Leland and Lorraine Red Dog; maternal grandfather, Daniel Russell; grandma, Catherine Russell; grandpas, Earlwin and Desmond Muskrat.
Darrell is survived by his daughter, Shanna Robertson of Poplar; mother, JoAnn Russell of Poplar; sisters, Farrell (Dennis) Simons of Poplar, Tracy Red Dog of Newtown, ND; brothers, Richard Russell and Sheldon Youpee, both of Poplar; grandmothers, Vida Muskrat, Louise Ell, Gloria Chopper, Pearl Hopkins, and Lorraine Stormy, all of Poplar; aunts and uncles, Bruce and Mary Nordwick, Stephen and Judy Gray Hawk Jr., Lonnie and Lyda Red Dog, Gale and Bonnie Menz, and Norman Muskrat, all of Poplar; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 18 at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar, MT. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 19 also at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery.
