Dennis Dale Brockmeyer, 67, of Oshkosh, Nebraska went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 22, 2019.
Dennis was born on March 5, 1952 the son of Kenneth and Betty (Witte) Brockmeyer in Glendive, Montana. He grew up on the Brockmeyer farm east of Wibaux and attended Baird School through the eighth grade. He went on to Wibaux County High School and graduated with the class of 1970. Dennis attended Dawson Community College majoring in Law Enforcement. He then took his first job in Wolf Point, Montana as a Sheriff Deputy. He married Royal Beck on April 6, 1974 and their union was blessed with two children, David and Chris. He later married Elaine Eggebrecht, on June 21, 1986 and their union was blessed with one child, Jessica.
While working for the Roosevelt County Sheriff department, Dennis held the positions of Detective and Undersheriff after being a Sheriff Deputy. While here, Dennis earned the Mark Trail award from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for helping save lives through the promotion of all hazards weather radios throughout Northern Montana. After 26 years in law enforcement, he retired. After retirement, he spent many years as a professional photographer in the Wolf Point area, then later became a journeyman electrician. He could outwork men half his age and was always thinking of ways to do things in a better way.
He had a huge heart and a willingness to help anyone. No matter where he went, people loved him. He had a terrific sense of humor, jokes seemed to tumble out of his mouth regularly. The nurses were told they needed to worry if his sense of humor left him. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with family. When he wasn’t hunting, he enjoyed shooting at targets which could be as simple as an old tin can. He shot his first elk this past fall on a hunting trip with his son and daughter. Oh, and was it said he loved to tell jokes?
Dennis was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church while he resided in Wolf Point. He enjoyed helping out the church whenever he could and even helped conduct the worship services when the church had a vacancy.
Dennis will be missed by his children, David (Marian) Brockmeyer of Japan; Chris (Shannon) Brockmeyer of Johnstown, CO; and Jessica Brockmeyer of Montrose, CO; his grandchildren: Francesca Brockmeyer and Riley Brockmeyer; his step-grandchildren, Brandon McNeice and Kieran Joe; his sisters Karen (Dale) Davis of Portland, OR and Sandy (Doug) Kraus of Phoenix, AZ; his aunt Wilma Hayden; his former spouse, Royal Houg; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine and his parents, Kenneth and Betty.
