Our loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother Itanchá Winyán went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2015 in Poplar, MT. She was born on May 23, 1930 to Eliza No Breast and David B. Johnson “Bad Temper” in Poplar, MT. Mom was a very proud Dakota Sioux Woman, one of the last full blood Dakota on the Fort Peck Reservation. She was proud of her Hunkpapa Minneconjou, Yanktonai and Sisseton Wahpaton heritage.
During her lifetime, Donna was employed at various places, she had eonderful memories of her employment at A&S Industries as an inspector, Pratts Enterprises, West Electronics as a supervisor and as a professional bingo player. Mom enjoyed making star quilts, she would always help the family out by making her famous Drymeat and choke cherry soups for family gatherings. Mom enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She loved to laugh and vrack jokes. Mom enjoyed going to celebrations to watch all ger great-grandchildren dance. Mom lived most of her life out in Chelsea “Minishda”. She would always talk about her life when she was younger; horseback riding with her father, brother and sisters all along the Missouri. Mom enjoyed traveling, talking on the phone with her good friend Vivian Lindahl. You will be missed by all Mother.
Donna is survived by her son, John Johnson, Richard White Owl III who she raised as her own, of Poplar; Eliza White Owl and Roberta “Jerry” Hegdahl of Wolf Point, MT; grandchildren Doug Runs Through, Jr., Michelle Taylor, Raquel Taylor, Rochelle Taylor and Buddy “Liz” Taylor of Ignacio, Colorado; Kory Hines, Marcus Eggebrecht and Tommy and Meagan Brown of Boise, Idaho; two sisters Lydia Johnson of Wapato Wa; Gloria Buckles; one brother Arnold Eagle Boy of Poplar, MT; nephews Russell and Verdis Mail, Alan Mail, Manny Melbourne, Lonnie IronBear; nieces Marilyn Mail, Linda and Dave Lezard, Cheryl Boyd, Myra and John Daniels and the extended families of mom: RedBoys, Shields, Iron Bears, Eagle Boys, Long Hair, Lester.
Mom was a humble woman of intelligent design with numerous accomplishments throughout her life. She was a member of the Lindsey Dakota Presbyterian of Poplar and
The Ladies Auxillary of Glasgow, MT.
She was preceded in death by her father David B. Johnson, mother Eliza No Breast, daughter Davetta Big Leggins Taylor; brother Isadore R. Johnson; sisters Evelyn Johnson, Cynthia Johnson, Gwendolyn Johnson Mail; husband Elijah Curly Chase; grandchildren Shelly Taylor, Elijah Runs Through; sisters; Mary Turning Heart, Mayme Red Eagle, Savannah Eagel Boy, Cynthia Sparvier, Flora Eagle Boy and Sandra Red Elk Adams; brothers Floyd Eagel Boy, Willy Eagle Boy, Nelson Eagle Boy, Melvin Eagle Boy. She had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren too numerous to mention. You will be missed by all.
