Doug was born on June 12, 1952 to Adrine “Boots” and Irene Erickson in Wolf Point, Montana. He went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2024.
His identical twin David and he had an ongoing brotherly dispute about who was the best twin. David was born first and claimed to be the more dominant twin, while Doug quickly countered that by saying “that’s because I kicked you out”!
The family lived in Vida, Montana where the boys attended school until moving to Wolf Point.
Doug graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1970. He went on to get his college degree at MSU-Northern in 1975.
He returned to Wolf Point where he taught industrial arts, drafting, and drivers-ed, and adult education for 29 years. He was also the athletic director before retiring in 2004. He was involved in many activities and had a knack for taking charge and getting the job done.
Doug was united in marriage to Rosanne Monson in 1976 and they made their home in Wolf Point. Together they raised 3 rambunctious boys: Jay, Brad, and Jory. The family was very involved in various sports.
In addition to being a teacher, he provided for his family through sprinkler installation, farming, mosquito control, park maintenance, and buying and leasing a charter bus. He was a dreamer and there was nothing he couldn’t find a way to do.
In 2011, Doug’s beloved dog, Oreo, joined the family. Oreo was always by his side wherever he went.
In addition to being there for his family, Doug touched the lives of many students, teachers, and people in the community. Doug was always willing to help anyone in need.
Doug is preceded in death by his son Brad, father Adrine (Boots), mother Irene; and twin brother David.
He is survived by his wife, Rosanne; his son Jay (Loverty) and Jory (Meili); grandchildren Isabell, Adeia, Olivia, Sia, Jayden, and Tor; brother Bruce (Tamara) and sister Elaine (Jeff), as well as nieces and nephews, Lisa, Michelle, Erica, Evan, Bethany, and Tyler.

So sad to hear of the loss of Mr. Erickson, he was the teacher of some of the most memorable and experimental classes that I had in at WPHS. He let me launch an “egg mobile” down the hallway of the downstairs locker rooms. Went right into the girls locker room, unintentionally, oops. Totally my bad, I was still learning engineering, ha! I actually applied the AutoCAD drafting knowledge he taught me last year at UM. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Love, Dustin Sievers
