Doyle T. “Dooley” BlackThunder, age 56, of Poplar, MT passed away after a short illness Friday July 12, 2019 surrounded by his family at the Poplar Hospital.
Dooley was born to Flora Eagle Boy and Edward BlackThunder on May 28, 1963 in Poplar, MT. He grew up in the Chelsea area and moved to Poplar where he attended school. In April of 1992, he met Carole Red Eagle whom he spent the rest of his life with. Together they had 2 boys, Jake and Josh.
Dooley worked various jobs throughout his life. He loved to go hunting, fishing, root digging, turnip digging and camping with this friends and children. He also loved listening to music and playing keno machines at TJ’s where you could always find him. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Wherever you saw Dooley, Carole and the grandkids were always with him. Together they were raising 4 grandchildren; Geoffrey, Josiah, Jalissa and Jacoby whom le loved with all his heart and had special jokes only they shared. He loved to cook and he was always cooking for his son Jake or making soup for him and the kids.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Carole; sons Jake, Josh and Travis BlackThunder; daughters Donelle (Eric), Dorell (Malcom) BlackThunder all of Poplar; special grandchildren Geoffrey, Josiah, Jalissa, Jacoby BlackThunder all of Poplar; grandsons Max GoodBird and Adam BlackDog; granddaughters Georgia GoodBird, Martha BlackDog all of Poplar and Winter BlackDog of Brockton; sisters, Holly Hopkins of Billings, Verdine Russell, special cousins Pauline Boxer, and Linda Lezard all of Poplar; nephew Matt (Audrianna) BlackThunder of Poplar; niece Ashley Hopkins of Billings; special niece Yolanda Parshall and family of Poplar; uncle Arnold EagleBoy of Wolf Point; aunties Gloria Buckles, Naomi Montclair, Jaunita Youngman, Velma Nepstad of Poplar; mother-in-law Doreen Red Eagle of Poplar; sisters-in-law Glenna (Danny) Red Eagle, Leanne (Louie) Buck Elk of Fort Kipp; Kathy (C.P.) Red Eagle, Deedee (Evron) Red Eagle, Amanda (Marvin) Bull Chief, Maureen (Rick) Dionne all of Poplar; brother-in-law Calvin GoodBird of Newtown, ND and all of his TJ’s family; special niece, nephew and grandson Rissi, Matt and Parjer Janis of Kyle, SD; extended families include EagleBoys, Sparviers, Iron Bears, Kidders, Red Eagles, BlackThunders of South Dakota.
Dooley is preceded in death by his parents Flora EagleBoy and Edward BlackThunder; grandparents Rose and Matthew EagleBoy; grandson Cameron BlackDog; brother Rusty “Shmo” BlackThunder; sisters Carmen and Althea EagleBoy; uncles Floyd, Willard, Nelson and Melvin EagleBoy; aunts Irene EagleBoy, Cynthia Sparvier, Sandra Red Elk, Mary Turning Heart, Mayme Red Eagle, Donna Chase, and Savannah Eagle Boy.
