Edith Anne Jackson
Edie, as she was known by her friends and family, was born on February 24, 1934 to Norval and Ethel S. Jackson in Miles City, Montana. She returned home to the Lord on March 16, 2018 at the age of 84 after a short battle with cancer. Edie was born the second of two children. At the age of 1 year the family moved to Clyde Park, MT where her Dad raised and sold Registered Hereford Cattle. She attended elementary school at a one room school, riding horseback to school with her brother Dean. It was here she met her neighbor and life long friend, Bertha Roylance. Edie graduated from Clyde Park High School and spent one year at Montana State College before transferring to Billings Teaching College where she received her teaching degree in 1956.
It was in Billings that Edie met her best friends, Virginia Fink and Deloris Pederson. They would impact Edie’s life in a huge way. After graduation, Edie chose to accept a teaching position in Wolf Point, MT where both Virginia and Delores, who had graduated before Edie, were teaching. The rest is history.
Edie met the love of her life, John W. “Jack” Warmbrod after coming to Wolf Point. They were married on June 19, 1960 in Livingston, MT. Edie taught first grade until the birth of their second child, at which time she stayed home and assisted Jack who farmed and ranched with his brother at the family ranch on Wolf Creek. They had 4 Children, Virginia, Jean, Sharon, and John David.
Edie returned to work after John started school, holding many positions over the years. She was a bus driver with Jack and her brother-in-law on the Warmbrod bus which ran along Wolf Creek road. Eventually the bus was run only by Jack and Edie. After the death of Jack in January 1992, Edie continued to run the bus until 1999 which marked 50 years of a Warmbrod driving the Wolf Creek Route. In addition, Edie worked at Haven’s Flooring and the Homestead Inn. Her last position was as a para-professional teacher; first at the Northside school and then at the Southside school. She retired from this position in 2005.
Edie was active in the Order of the Eastern Star for 55 years. She served as Worthy Matron of Riverside Chapter #84 of Wolf Point, MT, as Grand Chaplain of MT O.E.S. 1988-1989, and as Grand Representative to the states of North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. She was delighted to receive her 50 year pin on May 9, 2012. She was also active as the Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls for many years during the time that Wolf Point had an active Assembly. Once Riverside Chapter folded, Edie traveled faithfully with Sister Beth Hagadone to Circle for meetings until Circle consolidated with Yellowstone Chapter #5 in Glendive, MT, resulting in a 200 mile round trip drive for meetings.
Edie’s other joys were attending church, reading and baking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed making crafts to include scrapbooks for all of her children. The highlight of her year washaving her Grandchildren spend a week with her at the ranch every summer during Vacation Bible School. This created wonderful memories for all the Grandchildren to enjoy.
Survivors include her son John (Tricia) Warmbrod, daughters Virginia (Rick) Teagle, Jean Dixon, Sharon Stein (Scott Moore), brother Dean (Jenny) Jackson, Grandchildren Mike (Rolinda) Lewis, Destiney Lewis, Kinsey Stein (Owen Pierce), Joshua Stein, Ryan Warmbrod (Shana McCarthy) , Logan Warmbrod (Shay Hammons), Kaitie Warmbrod, Ethan (Kassidy) Warmbrod, Rebecca Dixon, and Jacqueline Dixon, Great Grandchildren Darneil Lewis, Jaclynn Lewis, Myklynn Lewis, Anevay Daniels, Marilynn Jackson-Steele, and Liam Warm rod. Numerous Nieces, Nephews and foster children also survive.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, March 20th from 6-8 pm at Clayton Stevenson Chapel with Eastern Star and a Prayer Service at 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 am at First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church.
