Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (McAnally) Kelsey, 83, went home to Jesus on May 8, 2021, after a long battle with cancer, an exceedingly rare form of Melanoma. She was born on June 27, 1937 to James and Ida (Westra) McAnally at the Dale Hospital in Poplar, Montana.
She met the love of her life at the age of fifteen, Robert Kelsey and married him on January 23, 1956. Bob and Betty started their family in Poplar, MT but moved to Billings, MT in 1967 to further their education. They worked various jobs while living there. They moved back to Poplar when they acquired what was known as Bob’s Market. Even though Bob’s name as on the sig, Betty rain it with an enthusiasm known by whomever went into the market. Because of Bob’s Market Betty was known wherever she ventured.
She had that type of personality that no one would or could ever forget. Betty may have been a small woman, but her personality and spirit were without boundaries. There was not anything that she could not do. Betty was a woman that was not afraid to let people know that she meant business. When she set her mind to doing something she wanted, lookout because she was very tenacious and would continue working on a solution to the problem or issue until it was solved.
Betty had a huge love for Christ, and she shared it with her family and friends as often as she could. Her love for Jesus was evident in the way she lived her life as well as in the way the Holy Spirit worked through her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert “Bob” Kelsey. Children Jeanette “Bobbie” (Don) McIntyre and Randy (Tammy) Kelsey. Grandchildren Kimberly Long Koehler, Racheal (Todd) Metzler, Jacob McIntyre, Elizabeth “Beth” Leair, Gregory (Alyssa), Arron (Meggie), and Jeremy Kelsey and twelve great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to cancer research.

My most sincere condolences to the family of this beautiful soul. May she rest in peace. I will always have very fond memories of Mrs. Kelsey growing up here in Poplar. I would see her every day of the week as we would walk to Bob’s Market at lunch time during my school years and get our usual. She will be greatly missed.

Betty was one of the hardest working women I have ever known. She was tough as nails and afraid of nothing. I loved her for her honesty and courage. She always told it like it was, something harder and harder to find these days. She was one of a kind and I already miss her. Our love to Bob and the family.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known Betty. My condolence goes to Bob and the family knowing that although the present loss is hard to bare there will be a wonderful reunion for all of you some day. She was so positive and apparently she never lost that virtue. The last time I visited with her was quite by a happy accident…we were shopping at a grocery store in Glasgow and by chance happened to meet. It is always joyful to meet a Poplar friend!
