Florine went to be with her beloved Savior on Friday March 18th 2011 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, MT. She was born July 11, 1944 to Seth and Ione Red Thunder in Poplar, Montana. She is survived by her best friend, Ron Robertson, her children: Ron Robertson Jr., Dale Robertson, Kimberly Collier, Christal Raver, Leilani Ingebritsen, and Michelle Sutton, her sisters: MaryAnn Richardson, Delores Kirn, Olivia Buckles, and Karla Red Thunder, her aunts: Delphine Selwyn and Laura Roy, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Margaret Hamilton, John Red Thunder, Calvin Red Thunder, Darrell Red Thunder, James LeRoy Red Thunder, and Paul Red Thunder.
Raised just outside of Poplar, Florine had the countryside to roam. While she never learned to swim, she sure could ride a horse. “Mousey” her beautiful chestnut colored horse took her on many adventures. She loved the farm life: walking the fence line, wild flowers, baby ducks, mud puddles, and sliding down hay stacks. She loved her mom and dad, her mischievous brothers, and the bed she shared with all of her sisters.
Florine moved to Spokane, Washington in 1962, where she raised her six children. She worked as a certified nurses aide at Rockwood Manor. She then moved to Golden, Colorado and was a trusted caregiver for the elderly. Before moving home to Poplar in 2005, she resided in Grand Junction, Colorado, again providing care for elders. She was the best Mom, the best Grandma, the best Sister, the best Auntie, and a best Friend. We are going to miss her and her wonderful laughter. She was a Prayer Warrior and deeply devoted to Jesus. Her prayer chains extended across the states and those who were gifted with her prayer cloths hold them close. Flowers made her smile, especially moss roses and violet petunias. Always a creative person, she could draw and write beautifully. Her stories held us captive and often ended with gales of laughter. Go Broncos! How she loved her Colorado team; game day will never be the same, but we will forever share our stories of watching with her.
Thank you Florine for all your recipes…your fry bread…you made it every time we asked you to. We appreciate you and love you. God Bless!
