George Maurice Redstone Jr., age 70 of Wolf Point, Montana passed away on October 16, 2019 at his home. His Indian name was O’i’ sába “Black Bead Boy”. He was also known as Hosmύ “Fish”.
Fish was born on August 7, 1949 to Mina Forrest Redstone and George Maurice Redstone, grandson of Alice Struck the Ground White Snow and Bedford Forrest.
He went to grade school in wolf point and then went to Weber State University in Utah and got a bachelor’s degree.
On June 22, 1984, Fish married Shirley Shields Redstone and made a family with her and her son, Patrick Clements Jr.
Fish was involved in tribal politics, enjoyed family gatherings, watching UFC wrestling, boxing, and football, he was a true Green Bay Packers fan.
He was a traditional man and followed the Assiniboine Medicine lodge as the lodge keeper. Although he didn’t have children of his own, many children called him dad, uncle, grandpa, and they all meant a lot to him. His most recent grandson was named after him and carries his name.
He is survived by Carol Forrest of Iowa; Mary Redstone, Josephine Redstone, Alice Redstone, all of Wolf Point, Montana; Helen Lingle of Spokane, Washington; Karen Yellow Robe of Wolf Point, Montana; brother, William Yellow Robe Jr.; Adopted siblings, Ida Cantrell, Josephine Tapaha, Geraldine Buck Elk, MaDonna LaRoche, Donna, Loretta Walton, Carol Wetsit, and Coleen Clark; numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by his lodge family as well.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Alvin; nephew, Edison Red Stone; niece, Christina Martell; grandson Alison Red Boy; nephew, Stenley Lingle; and niece Kimmila Brown.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the New Community Hall in Wolf Point. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the New Community Hall in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at Oswego Catholic Cemetery.
