In loving memory of a devoted Father, Husband, Uncle, Son and a Friend. Ira
Ricker, 63, was born on April 28th, 1960, to Phylis Ricker in Poplar MT. Grandma Ina
Boxer raised Ira in Poplar at a very young age until he went to The Mormon
Placement Program for several years. After the program he went to Clearfield
Job Corps Center on Sept. 14, 1979. Ira never forgot the foster family that helped
raise him – The Olsons from Washington, both parents were door-to-door sales
people and sold Kirby Vacuums. His foster parents were good at what they did
because they took Ira to Jerusalem twice, The Grand Canyon, Egypt, and lots
more places. His foster mom loved making big meals for their family and
traveling around the world. Ira knew how meaningful family was after his time
with the Olsens. Praying and forgiving each other was so important to Ira. He
often told us, his family “Always pray together for strength and forgiveness. To
help and to love one another so we can all get along.” Ira had strong family
values, and taught his own family everything he knew.
Right after Ira finished The Mormon Placement Program, he enlisted in the Navy
from Jan. 8th, 1980, to Nov. 6th, 1985. Ira saw The Seven Seas during his
enlistment in the Navy, and visited many places around the world, like Japan,
Europe, India, and much more! Ira enjoyed visiting and being around his family,
they were so meaningful to him. He will be missed dearly. Ira was always there
for his family during the toughest times, and always reminded his family to lean
on the Lord for their troubles, to be strong and resilient until the Lord can answer
our prayers.. Ira loved playing his guitar in his free time and recording music
videos for his family and friends. He loved praising God through his music
abilities. Ira loved the time he spent singing at the jail ministry, how he was able
to help the people have faith during their hardest times. He loved helping people,
wanting to spread the word about Jesus Christ, the love of God, and Spirit of the
Holy Ghost.
Ira was our Rock, everyone went to him for advice. He always had a way with
words and making any situation better with prayer! Praying was something he
always did, for anything and for anybody, There was NO-ONE Ira did not pray for,
even his enemies. Ira was a kind, caring and loving man, even the world couldn’t
take that away from him. Ira always reminded his family how thankful he was for
them and how much he loved them everyday. Even the family that are far and
near, knew how much Ira loved to stop and pray with you. Hold onto those
prayers for they are still protecting you, Ira was a faithful man of God, we all
know his spirit is with our Father God in Heaven, his son Jesus Christ and the
Holy Spirit. Ira is gone physically but not spiritually, his spirit lives on eternally
with our God in the Kingdom of Heaven. Ira loved spreading the love and word of
God. He is gone from this earth but he will never be forgotten here, the impact he
had is far-in-between. You will be dearly missed. Ira’s spirit lives on with God.
He is survived by his five children, Jordan, Stella (Juan), Iva (Nashon), Charlie
and Jalissa; His wife, Karla Ricker; His sisters, Veronica and Lenore.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Phylis and Frank Ricker; his sister Alene
Sharp, His aunties Lois Anne Fergueson, Debbie Johnson, Mary RedEagle,
Jacqueline Perry; His uncles, Gene Ricker, Tony Boxer Jr, John D. Christian, and
Clarence Christian.
His cousins, Rosemary (Posie) Fergueson, Jeri Fergueson, Sandy Whitebull and
Jacob Whitebull.
Please if we forgot any names it was not intentional, Ira had many relatives and
friends, too many to mention them all. He cared about a lot of them, always
prayed for everyone when he could. Ira will be missed so much by everyone, he
touched all of our lives

My condolences to Ira’s family. I too participated in the placement program in Washington state for 3 years. Ira used to call me Laminite sister. As I did him when we saw each other He was a great guy and will greatly be missed.
