Dr. Jack A. Lambert passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
He was born in Hibbing, Minn., on March 26, 1934, to Leo and Kathleen Lambert. During his school years, participated on the swim team, football and in the band. Jack received his Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine from the University of Minnesota. While attending, he met Mardelle (Mitzi) Petrick. They married in April of 1957, in Mason City, Iowa.
They moved to Montana, living in Townsend, where he had a private practice. Often performing spay and neutering on the ironing board in the kitchen. Attending to the birthing of larger farm animal and other emergencies. It wasn’t uncommon to see the children assisting in the feeding of bum lambs, helping move Georgie, the paralyzed calf and caring for Squeaky, the family pig.
In 1961, he moved their family to Wolf Point. He began his career with the United States Department of Agriculture as a veterinarian. He would travel as far east as Portal, North Dakota and as far west as Sweet Grass, Montana for inspections of animals coming into the United States. He was recognized by the Dept for long-term service of 30 years in 1992.
In retirement, Jack enjoyed splitting time between Wolf Point and his second home in Yuma, Ariz.
Jack was an avid hunter, every season shooting ducks, tracking deer, antelope, and elk. He loved to spend time in the gun shop, repairing or building rifles.
The Billings Gazette interviewed him and commented they had never seen a candidate with that many write in votes for mayor. He would go on to serve the City of Wolf Point for 10 years.
His passing was preceded by his wife; parents; brother Alan Lambert; his father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mazel Petrick; daughter-in-law Lori Lambert; son-in law Nick Beery, granddaughter Reanna Lambert; and her two children, Kevin and Amanda.
Survivors include his children Barbara Beery, Stephen (Cecelia) Lambert, David (Maureen) Piersak, Jay Lambert, and Kathy (Dennis) Buckles. He is also survived by a niece Deborah Loftsgard and nephew David Lambert, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild.
At his request, there will be no funeral. A private gathering of family will be held at a later date.
