Jacqueline (“Jackie”) Ann Weeks (Waciya Winya – “Woman They Depend Upon”) went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 18, 2023. She was born in 1949 to William (“Chubby”) Weeks, Jr., and Lillian (“Lily”) DeLong Weeks on April 11, 1949. She graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1967 and graduated from the University of Montana, Missoula (1972) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and received her Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of North Dakota (1982).

Her twin daughters, Kari and Erin Miller; two adopted grandchildren, Karly Jo Strait and Kelly White; grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn Craft, Tyler (April) Craft, Edwin Craft, Elizabeth Craft, and Nicole White, her great grandchildren Tyson Earl Craft, Remi Grace, and Easton Thomas. Jackie is also survived by her siblings, Dennis (Maureen “Bobbi”) Lambert, John Weeks, David (Barbara “Barbie”) Weeks, Rita Weeks, Tom (Rebecca) Weeks, and Wayne (Debbie) Weeks, and Sister Cousins Lois and Linda Weeks; and Jackie deeply and unconditionally loved her family nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she helped raise. She is also survived by her cousins, Winona Morris, Francis Flynn, and Wade Weeks. Special friends she has known for many years, Irene Wilkens, Leta Atkinson, Marilyn Marottek, Rae Jean Belgarde, Linda Lezard, Deb Madison, Sue Parker, Tina Magnan, Maureen Dionne, Susie Perry, Craig Smith, Walter White Tail Feather, cousin Charlie Headdress, and Kathy Greenwood. Jackie began her career with the Fort Peck Tribes as a planning intern with Housing and Urban Development (then called HUD), then became the Planning and Office of Environmental Protection (OEP) Director in 1973. She worked for her Tribe for over 50 years. Often times she would work on the weekends to make certain projects and grants would be completed and be finished on time. Her dedication to improving her community and Tribe was evident in her career and is an inspiration to us all.

To all the Week’s Family: Jackie was my mentor and taught me a lot of work values. I’ve know Jackie for many years and she was a very strong-minded individual and was not afraid to speak her thoughts. She always had a compliment for me when I would visit with her and provided resourceful guidance throughout my work history. On a personal note, she would love to joke, was very understanding, and had a beautiful laugh. She will be missed, but she is now resting in peace, healthy, and walking/talking with friends/relatives in Heaven. Journey well my friend and will see you on the other side one day. Condolences and God Bless the Week’s family.

Jackie, you wore many titles throughout your life and each one you held up respectfully. However , “sister” embodies everything I admire and cherish about you, in your lifetime and the rich legacy you leave to remember you by in the days to come. Our family sends condolences and prayers to the family and friends. Jackie and Rita were two peas in a pod, throughout life they remained side by side, unconditional love over a lifetime “sisters “.

Jackie, your earthly limitations no longer hold you down. You are freely running through the glorious gardens of heaven reunited with loved ones who have been waiting for you. Your family and the people of the Ft. Peck Tribes, who you served so faithfully for all these years will miss you. I am extremely grateful for your knowledge and guidance whenever I had trouble finding a resolution or letter, you would find it in no time. The halls of the Tribal Office seem so empty without you. Fly with the Angels Jackie. Cousin, Charlie Headdress
