Jaray Allen Battiest, age 27, of Wolf Point, passed away on January 7, 2022. Jaray always had a smile for anyone who crossed his path, he was always ready to help where help was needed. He was a hard worker and worked with Bryce Kirk, he was like a son to the Kirk family and the children loved him dearly. Jaray was a very fun-loving guy to be around. Jaray was born in Poplar to Patricia Shy Face and David Battiest on September 15, 1995, he attended school in Poplar, where he also graduated. He enjoyed being gramma’s baby. June Shy Face and his gramma Birdie whom also named him, spoiled him all the time.
He is survived by his long time companion, Marion Walking Eagle; his daughter, Fire Roze; his favorite nephew, Quincy Bigleggins; his brothers, Aaron Battiest, Marcus Battiest,Callen Lone Bear, and Marion Shy Face and Kojak Shy Face, all of Wolf Point; his aunts, whom he teased all the time, Cheryle White Hawk, Karen Good Track Blossom; his uncles, Robin White Hawk, Darrell Shy Face, Mikey Walla, and his special uncle Leslie White Hawk; numerous cousins and relatives near and far; his best friend, DJ Fast Horse; many friends and his street people family. Jaray adored everyone.
He is preceded in death by his 2 grammas; his lil bro, Cheyenne; uncles, Jimmy Shy Face, Oscar White Hawk, and his grandpa, Ike; many other relatives who will be waiting to greet him. Fly high, Jaray, Keep Smiling, we will see you when we see you. Journey well.
Extended families include the Shield family, Jones family, White Hawk family, near and far. We apologize if we missed anyone, we didn’t intentionally leave anyone out, we have a large family.
A wake will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022 at the New Community Hall in Wolf Point, Montana. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the New Community Hall in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at Riverside Catholic Cemetery.
