Jo Anne Reed, age 70, of Wolf Point, Montana passed away on October 1, 2022.
Jo Anne Reed went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She passed away at Trinity Hospital surrounded by her loved ones that could be there with her.
She was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on January 24, 1952. Growing up her family moved a lot for her father’s work. She had found memories of living in Happy Jack, AZ; Green River, UT; and Grand Junction, CO. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1970. In 1977 She met the love of her life, Glen Reed. They were married in the following year.
In 1979 Jo Anne and Glen packed up the kids and moved to Ely, NV and later that year the moved to Sunnyside Ranch, NV. They lived there for a decade with Glen being the ranch foreman and Jo Anne being a house wife and mother and later she started working at Lane’s Truck Stop as a short order cook. In 1989 they moved into Lund, NV when Glen could no longer do ranch work because of his back. In 2002 they moved to Fort Collins, CO to be closer to their youngest son. Jo Anne became very active with The Salvation Army at this time and felt very blessed by her new church family. In 2010 she decided that her and Glen weren’t getting any younger and they missed so much of their oldest two granddaughters lives that she wanted to be closer to all of her grandkids. So, they moved to Wolf Point, MT where she got to know her youngest grandkids better.
Jo Anne was a creative person. She would make hand made stitched quilts that she would give as gifts. She would make these huge cakes, from scratch, for family and friends’ special occasions. She worked as a short order cook most of her working life. Once while watching a show on Food Network, it was mentioned that by the standards that they were using that she was a chef, her reply “No I wasn’t, I was a short order cook, I didn’t do all that fancy stuff.” She lost her sight to macular degeneration and was legally blind. She could no longer do the things she loved, but she did enjoy all the competition shows on Food Network, especially all the different holiday specials.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Glen Reed; father, Robert L Allen; mother Betty Allen; and her grandson, James Reed.
She is survived by her sons Shane Reed of Wolf Point, MT; Ken (Walt) Reed of Denver, CO; her daughter Dawn Allen of Wolf Point, MT.
