Josie Dawn Wounded Face (Waste’-Wi) Good Woman
In the early morning hours of the Wolf Moon, our dear PVT Josie dawn Wounded Face, was called to heaven by her mother and cousin, Jannice, from natural causes. She was comforted by her sister DeRae and friend, David, at the Poplar hospital. She was born on December 28, 1988 to Shannon Eder and Joe Bill Wounded Face, she was raised by her step-dad, Harry “Oak” Iron Bear, Jr.
Josie went to school in Poplar and graduated with her cousin, Jared, in 2006. They both signed up for the army, but medical reasons kept Jared from departing.
Upon Jared letting her know it was okay to go without him, Josie began her roll call to the Army on February, 5, 2007. Basic training was in Ft. Jackson, North Carolina. She was later stationed in North Pole, Alaska at Ft. Wainwright for 3 years and 5 months and was honorably discharged in December of 2011.
Josie was blessed to have 2 fathers but for 17 years, Josie knew Harry “Oak”, as her father until his passing. Josie grew up with and remained in contact with her close cousins, Tiana, Milo, Jannica (until her passing), Jarred, Tyra (until her passing), Shiela, Marian, April (until her passing), Dustin, and Cole, but Jarred remained her closest cousin until passing. Josie’s mother, Shannon, was a CNA at the Poplar hospital and her babysitters at this time were Grandpa Buster and Uncle K.K. K.K. was very proud that he taught her to take her 1st steps, then walk.
Josie was a head strong woman, when she set her mind to something, she would do it. In the service, she learned discipline, to start tasks and finish them with no problem, to take matters seriously. Life was hard on her but she would surprise the family by overcoming obstacles in her own way. That was Josie!
Josie is survived by her children, Timothy and April Nunn, Davette Crowe and Jaxon Wounded Face, DeRae (Nate) Wounded Face and Alexis Wounded Face, Heather and Amanda Iron Bear, Chad and Seth Wounded Face, Harry (Hokey) Iron Bear and William Iron Bear, Marcella (Joel) Grey Bull, of Poplar, Cheryl (Corey) TwoHearts, of Minot, Valerie Boyd Eder, of Riverton, Terri Mae (Gordon) Blake, of Billings, Joleen Wounded Face/Fox, of Mandoree, Wanda “Sadie” Smith, of Poplar, Owendolyn Claymore, of Billings, Billie Jo Wounded Face, of Arizona, Mural Kaye Wounded Face, of Arizona, and Evelyn (John) Wounded Face, of Newtown; special aunts, Linda (Dave) Lezard, Darlene (Michael) Ackerman, and Cheryl Shields; uncles, Reginald Scott, of Poplar, Kevin (Joyce) Eder, of Poplar, Robert “Sues” (Sherry) Eder, of Poplar, Kenneth Eder, of Poplar, Timothy Red Door, Jr., of Great Falls, and Tracey Wounded Face, of Mandaree; special uncle, Ivan Roberts; cousins, Dalonna (Mike) Youngman, Robert Russell, Sr., Megan (Eddie) Black, Faylene Eagle, of Poplar, Summer Drum, of Poplar, Katawna Scott, Natilya and Serenity Two Hearts, of Minot, Brian (Trudy) Eder, Sr., Tiana Eder, Milo (Christy) Whitetail, Jared (Steph) Whitetail, Shiela (Kalani) Huertas, of Fredericksburg, VA, Marian, Nancy (Mike) and Tricia Scott, of Poplar, Robert (Vernice) Eder, of Poplar, Dustin and Latrell Eder, and Cole Boyd, of Riverton, WY, Angel, Larina (Bryan) Scott, Melvin (Janet) Scott, Jr., and Frances Scott, of Poplar, Bobby, Michelle, and Dan’elle Michell, of Billings, Jeremy (Andrea) Wounded Face, Sonja, Cacelia “Sissy”, Richard and Don (Shyla) Fox, Kristina Smith, John, Emerson, and Curtis “PNut” Merz, Jr., of Poplar, Dustin (Kim), Sabrina, and Ruby Wounded Face, Steven and Lady Wounded Face, of Jamestown, John (Sunny) Wounded Face, of Whiteshield, ND, Tracey Wounded Face, Jr., of Parmalle, SD; nieces and nephews, Tylisha and Brandon RedStar, of Poplar, Riki and Pauline, Kaiden and Mika LongHair, Jasmine, Brian, Jr., Aiyanna, Hally, Quentin, and Brylee Eder, Tallulah, Tala, and Tauriel Day, Alora Whitetail, of Poplar, and Kale and Kaina Whitetail, of Rapid City, Myana Whitetail, Tara and Marquez Reddog, of Poplar, Abby, Emily, Khloe Meyers, Nicki, Jase, Cali and Bella Whitetail, of Poplar, Natasha, Michael, Jr., Angella, Latisha Youngman, of Poplar, Bobby, Denver, Robert Russell, Jr., Rosslyn, Roman, and Royal Russell, of Fort Kipp, Chasidie Scott, Thane Longtree, Colton and Quadence Scott, of Poplar, Little Skye and Tatiana Fast Horse and Lydia Scott, Madarius, Malone, Mekenna, and Machail Scott, Giovanni Huertas, ReShawn, and Jeremiah Mail, Layla, Brody, and Roxane Wounded Face, Chelsea, and Kristina Alexander, Junior Mae Smith, of Poplar, Emerson Everette, and John Menz, III., River Mitchell, of Billings, Mackenzie Wounded Face, of Bismarck, Jormar, and Deyton Drapecul, Phoenix Driver, of Mandaree, Kai and Dezmond Fox, Lillie Renae, Hendry and Haisley Wounded Face, of Poplar.

Josie Dawn my lil cousin I’m at a loss hearing you passed.. it seems so unreal. I know you are reunited with our family on the other side ..no longer missing them.. but rejoicing together as we are called home one by one. Josie thank you for being there when dad died (your uncle Dennis) who thought the world of you and Derae.. I just thought about the time we chanced it to Wolf Point to escort dad home.. some how we made it with no gas .. for surely we had our guardian angels with us and my boys. Now you are a guardian angel lil cousin … No more pain no more hurt my girl. At ease soldier. Until we meet again fly straight and know we love you and miss you already..

I’m going to miss our crazy conversations and always getting rowdy with everyone. You were like another sister to me my “real gay guy” when we was feeling down and out we always had each other to comfort. I really enjoyed living with you in north pole, Alaska we had a blast never a dull moment. I know it’s not goodbye it’s I’ll see you later. So I’ll say see you later until we meet again. Give my sister’s Tyra and April a hug for me and let them know I love and miss them dearly as much as ima miss you as well. Love you ❤
