Lakota Thomas First, โWi Sapaโ (Black Moon), age 41 of Fort Kipp, Montana was called home on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in Fort Kipp. Lakota Thomas was born on December 5, 1977 in Poplar, to the late Calvin R. First and the late Myrna Jean Red Boy. He attended Poplar High School, graduating in 1997. He went on to obtain his CDL from Fort Peck Community College, working various jobs at the Poplar Schools and in construction. Lakota enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing cars, and most of all spending time with his children. He was a direct descendent of Chief Medicine Bear.
Lakota is survived by his beautiful children Raycine (Zach), Kyle, Quaden, Conway, Lakota, and Ky. His siblings include sisters; Inez Pretty Bear First and Lynette (Corey) Reddogg and her children Antoine, Dion, Taress of Poplar; his brother Calvin Medicine Bear First, and his children Seneca, Simaron, Kadence, KJ, Quana, and Calvy. Extended families include the First family, Fourbear family, White Eagle family, Perry family, Redboy family, Red Elk family, and Pipes family. If we forget to mention anyone, we apologize.
Lakota was preceded in death by his loving parents, Calvin R. First and Myrna Jean Red Boy and daughter, Thomasina First, whom he will be buried beside in Fort Kipp.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the First family Cemetery North of Fort Kipp. A feed will be held following all services at the Poplar Cultural Center.
