Lewis Dale Martell, Jr. passed away on January 10, 2022 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was born on June 2, 1980, in Poplar, Montana to Lewis D. Martell, Sr. and April Johnson.
Lewis attended schools in Poplar, Montana. He enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, fishing, hunting, working on cars, and lifting weights. In his younger years he liked wrestling and boxing. He was a boxer for the Poplar Boxing Club that was started by Frank Martell, his dad, Lewis Martell, and Lee Kip Rafaeal.
Lewis is survived by his parents, Lewis D. Martell, Sr. (Shorty), of Poplar, Montana, and April Johnson, of Grand Forks, North Dakota; sisters, Candie, Tashina, and Marci, of Grand Forks, North Dakota; brothers, Rudy Loves Him, of Poplar, Montana, and Darren Longee, of Grand Forks, North Dakota; step-sisters, Vanessa and Jessica Red Star, of Poplar, Montana; step-brothers, Thomas Juarez and Anthony Melbourne of Poplar, Montana; aunts, Marilyn and Joyce (Kevin), of Poplar, Renae Johnson, and Sonia Hawk (Dave), of Wolf Point, Montana; uncles, Martin Martell, Jr. (Kenda), of Poplar, Montana, Dale Johnson, and Vernon Martell (Maureen), of Billings, Montana; cousins, Kayleen, Angel, Melvin III (Janet), Larina (Brian), Janet (Isaac), Lorie (DeWayne), Clarence III (Brandy), Clinton (Malisa), Marteen, Marsha (Loudon), Shivonne, Cassandra, Joseph, Titus, Brenden, Kahlea, Gabrielle, Moriah, Hannah, David, Jr., John Henry, Leslie, Geraldine, Rayette, and Wilfred Lambert.
Lewis is preceded in death by his sister, Anita Martell; cousins, Stephanie Rollins, Conrad Scott, and Phillip Russell; auntie, Donna Martell; paternal grandparents, Martin Martell, Sr., and Angeline Big Shield Martell; uncles, Ivan Big Shield, Gerald Lambert, and Monty Martell; maternal grandparents, Victor and Rena Johnson; uncles, George and Victor Johnson.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar, Montana. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery.
