Mary Ann Bates, age 90, left this world, on April 14, 2022, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow.
Mom was born on September 27, 1931 to Alfred and Goldie Lingle. She grew up on a small farm south of the Frazer, MT and attended grade school at Pasture Creek and Prairie Elk. She attended Frazer High School. Mom married Arthur I. Bates on April 16, 1950. They were married 64 years. To this union they had four children, Ralph Bates (Vonnie), Leona Riley, Arthur W Bates and Susie Mathison (Al Kohl). They lived on a small farm on Sand Creek, south of Wolf Point, MT. Mom always raised a big garden and canned the produce. She loved making jam and jellies for family and friends to enjoy. Mom baked and decorated cakes from the time she started her family. After her family was grown, she started making wedding, anniversary, birthday, and baby shower cakes. Mom enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and playing cards and putting puzzles together. She was always up for a great time of Aggravation, which was her favorite. Mom looked forward to going to the Wild Horse Stampede every year and never missed a one. She traveled with dad when he hauled rodeo stock outside of the area. The biggest smile would come when she was riding on the back of a motorcycle with her son and grandson.
After moving to town, mom worked at Public Drug, Trinity Hospital as a CAN, Bryans, the post office, Harada House and retired from Northern Prairie Auto at the age of 88.
Mom was baptized on October 12, 2021 at First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point, MT by Rev. Bonnie Novak.
The family would like to thank the staff at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, MT for the care they gave mom for the short time she was there.
Mom is survived by her four children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Oh No! I am so sorry to see this. However I am very happy that I got to see Mary at my Grandpa Franks funeral last fall. I was able to sit and visit with her for quite a while after the funeral and give her a hug. I always enjoyed talking to her and I’ve always loved talking to the older generation. She will be greatly missed. Prayers and condolences out to the Bates family and extended families.

Ralph, Leona, Poncho, and Susie an your families,
I am saddened to read about your Mom this morning. She was such a fun and vibrant lady. Our folks always enjoyed the pop in visits they had with each other over the years. I was the recipient of one of her lovely cakes at a bridal shower on Prairie Elk. Cherish your memories and remember the wonderful person she was, knowing she is with Jesus.
