In the early morning hours of January 5, our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and matriarch, Monica Jean Buckles, passed away.
Monica “Adams” Buckles, 69, was born to Naomi “Beebs” (Archdale) Adams and Tommy Dean Adams on September 25, 1953 in Poplar, Montana. She was the 2nd born daughter of twelve. She spent her early years in the Oswego/ Frazer area where she helped take care of her ten younger siblings, nieces, and nephews, while attending Frazer schools. Monica graduated from Frazer High School in 1972.
Monica then attended Northern Montana College where she earned her Business degree. After college, she began her career at the Fort Peck Housing Authority as an Occupancy Specialist/Supervisor working there until 2001. She also had a 2nd job as a cook at the American Legion Supper Club while working for FPHA. She worked for the Water Resource Program while still employed at the Legion for several years. From there, she took on the manager duties at the Legion where she was employed until the passing of her husband in 2015. She then returned back to the FPHA as the Occupancy Supervisor until her passing.
In 1988 she married her love Jim Buckles. Together they made a home and she took on his family as her family. She bonded and treasured Jim’s family as her own spending many memorable years and milestones with each family member including Sonny, Sissy, Kevin, Pat and Pam, their children and many treasured in-laws.
Monica was known for her kind, generous heart. She was an overall care provider who selflessly put herself before others. She was known to provide a safe haven for all who needed it taking many on as her own.
Growing up in Oswego, MT, lifelong friendships were made and bonding as family with our many neighbors and cousins. Monica was our rock and foundation keeping our family in line and together throughout her life. Her passing was unexpected and a shock. We will miss her tremendously,
Monica is survived by her sons, Todd (Julie) Adams and grandsons, Marcus, Mathias, and Aiden of Houston, TX; Terrance (Lisa) Adams and grandchildren Cora, Cali and Lance of Billings, MT; and adopted children, Cherish, Michael, and Lorena Lindsay of Poplar, MT; sisters: Karen McLaughlin, Lynette Adams, Thayle (Weegee) Adams, and Nadine Adams
of Wolf Point; Andrea (Lorenzo) Adams of New Mexico; and Michelle (Michael) Adams of Florida; brothers; Rodney Adams, Kevin Adams, Jeff Adams and Darin (Erin) Adams of Wolf Point; and Michael (Randi) Adams of Shepard, Montana. If we have left anyone out or failed to mention anyone, it was not intentional.
