Norman Edward Olson, a dedicated Army Veteran and a cherished family man, went home to be with the Lord on January 4th, 2024 at the age of 86. As a young man he dedicated his life to serving his country with unparalleled bravery and commitment as a Paratrooper in the Airborne forces. Norman grew up in Culbertson, MT and worked at the Safflower plant for 35 years. Norman and Peggy Birch shared a part of their lives together blessing the world with two daughters Terri and Lana and he had the honor of helping Peggy raise her two sons, Tom and Michael Birch. They loved to go camping in Western Montana as much as they could get away. After 18 years of raising cattle on the farm they decided to move into Culbertson, making the “last house on the left” their family home. They were raised to be a reflection of his strong values and guidance. His unconditional love and encouragement provided a foundation to embrace their strengths, pursue their passions, and navigate life’s challenges with resilience.
Later down the road Norman married Juanita. In her, he found his best friend. They shared laughter and their endless faith in Jesus. They took the brave journey to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to graduate Rhema Bible Training College together. Though their paths went different ways their friendship lived on. Norman was blessed with being a part of Juanita’s children; Bruce, Misty, Zenas, Lynnette, Shannon, Roseina, Russell, Lloyd, Tracy, Randy, Melvin and Daisy
Norman’s love knew no bounds. His guidance and warmth created an environment where love and laughter thrived. Norman’s grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. Some of his best past times with them is watching the news on volume 90. Putting on his extra big glasses and saying “I think I found my glasses!” and making sure the grandkids knew how he liked his turkey cooked. Among the many beautiful moments that adorned Norman’s life, he had the profound honor of officiating the marriages of two of his grandchildren. His willingness to preside over these significant moments in their lives spoke volumes about the depth of his love he had for his grandchildren.
Norman was a man whose life was a testament to his faith in God, the love for his family, his service in his community and anything chocolate. His presence illuminated the lives of everyone he touched. Norman’s passing has left a void in our hearts, but his spirit and legacy will endure in our cherished memories. Norman was greeted in heaven by his parents: Violet and Clifford, his three brothers: Melvin, Robert, and Howard. As well as Roseina, Shannon, Russell, Lloyd and Tracy and his two special angels, his great granddaughters: Autumn Elizabeth and Scarlet Rose. Norman left behind his children: Terri, Lana (Kenny), Mike (Jeanie), Tom, and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great grandchildren.
