Our mom, Patsy Krohmer, passed away on March 28, 2020. She was born in Culbertson, Montana to Bert and Amanda Johnson on November 3, 1935. She lived in Brockton until she graduated from high school.
After graduating from high school she went to college for about a year when she met a wonderful young man that swept her off her feet on a blind date. She married Laverne Krohmer on November 6, 1955 in Brockton. They welcomed their daughter, Natalie, one year later. In 1957 they moved to Wolf Point and in 1958 their son, Wade, joined the family. We lived in Feda Apartments and met some lifelong friends from that time. Mom would take in ironing to help with the family finances. She always loved ironing and I always appreciated when she would do mine. When both of us were in school Mom started working at for Roosevelt County in the County Superintendent’s Office. She ran the County Spelling Bee for many years. Toward the end of her 30 year career, she worked a couple of years in the County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. She retired in November of 1997.
Eight months after she retired, our dad passed very suddenly leaving Mom alone. This was very difficult for her but she just tried to move forward. Her health and memory started to fail when she was in her mid-sixties. She then moved to be close to Wade and our Grandma in Ada, Minnesota. In 2008, she moved to be close to Natalie in Loveland, Colorado where she remained until her death.
Anyone who knew her knew that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. Most Saturday mornings, when we all lived in Wolf Point and only about a block apart, she would have warm chocolate chip cookies by early morning. The grandkids would meet at grandmas for cookies and milk. It is one of their favorite memories.
Mom is survived by her daughter, Natalie (Andy) Shamley, of Loveland, Colorado and son, Wade (Susan) of Washburn, North Dakota, her grandchildren, Corey (Sandy), Jeff (Shauna), Amanda, Justin, Alicia, Faith and 5 great grandsons; Connor, Ryker, Treyten, Evan and Breccan. Also surviving mom are her brother, DelRay Johnson of Staples, Minnesota and her very dear cousin who she always thought of as a sister, Juanita Hagen of Glasgow, Montana. Mom was preceded in death by our Dad, Laverne, her parents Bert and Amanda Johnson, and her precious granddaughter Crystal Lou Krohmer.
Mom, we know your body is whole, you have all of your memories back, you are dancing with Dad, and you and Crystal are laughing in Jesus’ arms. Until we meet again, we love you and will always miss you.
Cremation has been arranged through Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland, Colorado, and a celebration of life will be scheduled in the future in Wolf Point, Montana, when family and friends are able to safely gather in her memory.
