Robert “Bobby” BlackDog, age 58, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at his home in Poplar, Montana.
Bobby was born on November 9, 1963, in Poplar, Montana, the son of Lawrence and Martha BlackDog. He lived in Fort Kipp and Poplar, Montana. He attended Brockton school and graduated in 1982. Bobby enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, he enjoyed listening to Indian music and watching movies. He loved his siblings, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
He worked at the BIA fire hall as a fire fighter for many years and worked for Brockton school for many years. When he was younger, he danced fancy ‘til he was a teen. He also sang with the Fort Kipp Juniors when he was young. Bobby met Thaila Buck Elk (deceased) in 1980 and to this union, a son, Adam BlackDog (deceased) was born and him and Thaila remained friends. He then met Jeanine Renz in 1985 and to this union, three sons, Eric, Evan, and Sean, and two daughters, Mary Lynn, and Courtney (deceased) were born, they also remained friends.
Bobby is survived by his children, Eric, Evan, Sean, and Mary Lynn; grandchildren, Geoffrey BlackDog, Adam BlackDog, Winter BlackDog, Martha BlackDog, Aidyn BlackDog, Rylan BlackDog, Kingston Eder, Serenity BlackDog, Willow Ollinger, Brooke Parker, Jazmine BlackDog, Justin, Marshall, Hero, and Raina; siblings, Willie “Mary”, LaVonne, and LaDonna; nieces, Amanda, Emily, Chas, Nancy, and Tracy; nephews, Quentin Sailing, and Isaac Sailing; uncles, Maynard BlackDog, Adian “Peggy”, Clyde Perry, Vernon Koffman, Sly Martin, Victor Martin, Archie Bear Cub, Charlie Gree, Bugs Rusty, Allie, and Kermit Walking Eagle; adopted brother, Buddy Adams; aunties, Della Thomas, Lydia, Ceya Long Hair, Dani Green, Shannon Loans Arrow, Connie, Roberta Bird, Bernice Martin, Janice Johnson, Trivian Grainger, Irene Wilkens, Vernita Buckles, Leta Atkins, Arletta BlackDog, Doris Walking Eagle, Lois Long Tree, Ethelene White Hawk, Juanita Youngman, Iome Young, and Rosa Boyd; grandpa, Arlie Diserly; cousins, Leslie Long Hair, Cenee Big Horn, Jage Keeler, Alice, Lynetta Long Hair, Lucy, Annie Cantrell, Jalen, Zack Atkins, Dave, Dawn, Densi Grainger, Allen, Donella Buckles, Rusty, Liz, Lisa Boxer, Annie Perry, Bill, Ceejay, Jim BlackDog, Myra Walking Eagle, Stacye Eugene Crowe, Tery Lenny, Franci, Bug, Dude Rattling Thunder, Sherri DeMarrias, and Arnon BlackDog. Bobby is preceded in death by his two children, Adam and Courtney BlackDog; both his parents and grandparents; nephew, Christopher BlackDog; and grandson, Carmon BlackDog.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp, Montana. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp, Montana. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery.
