In the early morning hours of November 15, 2018 in Billings, MT Robert George Brown Sr., 46, of Poplar, was called home to be with family who went before him.
Robert was the oldest son born in Devils Lake, ND to Robert Sr. and Juanita Young, joining older sister, Leona Love and later welcoming sister, Melissa Jane and brother, Delton Wade Brown.
In his early years Robert spent his time between Spirit Lake, ND and the Fort Peck reservation as he has a huge family and considered both places home.
He received his education in Poplar, Flandreau, SD, and Wahpeton, ND. During this time he discovered his love for metal music and became a self-taught guitar player. He eventually became a jack of all trades. He was also very artistic. He would deign and make many one of a kind projects from almost nothing. and almost everything.
In 1990, he became a father for the first time to a son, Robert III, followed by son, Dillion, daughter, Tia, son, Richard, daughter, Tiona, and son, Lane Brown. He was a loving hardworking father, who did what he had to do to provide for his family. Didn’t matter if it was a small odd job, full time, or seasonal firefighter.
On September 16, 2010 he married Vermae Smith until his passing from this union he gained a step daughter, Brianna Kay and stepsons/ nephews, Kiya Smith, Chance (Jess) Boyd, and Grant Ferguson and granddaughter, Carmen all of the family home.
Robert was also a loving grandfather to Asher, Canden, Daimien, Benjamin, Skylar, Tahlia, and had five more grandbabies on the way.
He also leaves behind his loving mother and stepfather, Juanita Douglas Youngman; baby brother, Delton Wade Brown, whom not matter what he always watched over him; Robyn Brown and family of Spirit Lake, ND and Dorsey Young and family; special niece and nephew, Renee R. Brown of Rapid City, SD and Duran Wade Brown of Poplar and their children, Lila Love, James Holmes and Phillip Brown; best friend he took as a brother, Leonard Wettlin Jr.; uncles, Richard (Eliza) Young, Art Brown, Edgar Jones and their families; and aunts, Naomi Montclair, Velma Nepstad, and their families.
Robert is preceded in death by his father Robert George Brown Sr.; sisters, Leona Love and Melissa Jane Brown; neice, Larissa Youngman; uncle, Maynard Jones; grandmother, Effie Cloud Two Bulls; grandparents, Art and Luella Brown; brother, Myron Red Dog.

A wake will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 21 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery in Riverside. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
