Roseann Shields crossed into eternity peacefully surrounded by her sister’s love on January 11, 2024. Roseann was born on August 20, 1941 in Poplar, MT to Fred Shields Sr. and Frances Smith-Shields. Roseann graduated from Poplar High School in Poplar, Montana then went onto Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas where she received her degree in business administration. Roseann kept a journal by her bedside where she still wrote in shorthand. After she left Haskell in the mid 1960’s she started her career as a secretary at The Boeing Company airlines in southern California. In the late 1960’s she then went onto Reno, Nevada where she met her husband and from that marriage she had two sons, Michael and Kenneth Heathman. Roseann started her new career as a black jack dealer in Reno, Nevada. She was amazing at her job in the casino as a blackjack dealer and she was known for her outstanding ability to count up to five decks of cards. Roseann was chosen to be the eyes of the casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she became the pit boss in 1979. Roseann was a classy and elegant woman. She retired after 36 years of working in the casinos. She then relocated to Fairbanks, Alaska where she was remarried and lived for a few years before she moved home to Wolf Point, MT in the late 1990’s. Her last days were spent at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, MT. The family would like to thank the staff for taking such good care of her.
Roseann is survived by her son Michael Heathman (Lisa) and grandson Jeff Heathman and Granddaughter, Melissa Hoffmann. Her siblings; Sherry Shields, Sandy Azure, Stoney Anketell, and numerous nieces and nephews, far too many to name.
Preceded in death by her parents Fred and Frances Shields, son, Kenneth Heathman, brothers; Fred Shields Jr., Caleb Shields and Sisters; Joy Shields, June Stafne, and Shirley Redstone.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Blue Sky Ministries in Wolf Point. Cremation will follow.
Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements and condolences for the family may be left by using the form below.
