Rudolph (Rudy) Martell, 57 of Ft. Kipp, MT left us so suddenly on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Roosevelt Memorial Hospital. Rudy was born March 5, 1960 to Henry Violet Buck Elk at Poplar Hospital. He attended Brockton Schools. Played basketball and made many lifelong friends. He graduated 1978 and shortly thereafter joined the Marines. Where he broke many records in his training. He returned to Ft. Kipp and married Kayleen Todd from this union they had Anthony Martell Headdress, Kyle Martell Headdress. Rudy suffered and accident that left him permanently paralyzed. He then went to college at University of Montana. Whenever Rudy made a friend it was a life long friendship. Rudy lived with auntie Priseilla Carpentier.
Rudy is survived by his parents, Henry Violet Buck Elk; siblings, Wendall (Donette) Martell, Mary (Verle) Follette, Teresa (Michael) James, Darryl Buck Elk, Yvette (Charles) Olson, Janel (Billy) Burshia; aunts, Priseilla Carpentier, Aletha Chopper; uncle, Vernon Chopper and Donna Buck Elk and special nieces, nephews, and cousins, Brittany Buck Elk, William Burshia, Annette Chopper, Kale Dunphy, and Faith Buck Elk, he had many more aunts and uncles to many to mention; his grandchildren, Alexis, Kaydence, Karmon; Surviving families, Martells, Lamberts, Four Bears, Choppers, Buck Elks, Perrys, White Eagles, Firsts, Shawls, Walking Eagles, Bets His Medicines, Drums, Yanktons, Bears, and Eders.
He is preceded in death by son Kyle Martell; grandmothers, Lucille Chopper, Nancy Buck Elk; grandfather, Henry Buck Elk Sr.; sister, Thalia Buck Elk; cousin, Brandi Chopper, Jeremy Chopper; uncle, Abraham Chopper Sr.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, February 18 at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp, Montana. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, February 19 at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp, Montana. Interment will follow at Fort Kipp Cemetery. Clayton StevensonMemorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

I couldn’t believe this news when I first heard it. Rudy was a great friend and teammate during high school. He was a talented player, and was always kind and considerate to others. He will be greatly missed.
