Vernon Russell Baldry was born on November 18, 1939 and joined Winnie and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 6, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving children in prayer at the time of his death.
Vern married Winnie on September 3, 1960 in Peerless, MT. They have three children, Terry (Theresa), Todd (Evelynn), Theresa (Jeff).
Vern has 12 grandchildren, Shawn (Lizzie), Nathan (Shonna), Craig (Kamrie), Isacc, Erika, Garrett, Sydney (Brian), Jordan (Jereme), Stephanie, Skylar (Reed), Tyler (Emily), Trent and 13 great grandchildren, Kellen, Elliot, Max, Kurdt, Aidan, Abbey, Kaison, Karsyn, Everlee, Emmett, Eloise, Lucca, Hudson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lillian; siblings, Arlie, Rodney, Helen, Alvin (Buck), Chester (Chetty), and Betty (Tootsie).
His surviving siblings are Doreen (Maggie), Joanne, Shirley, Geri, Orville (Ike), Gordon (Brother Bede).
Vern worked at various farms and ranches in Peerless and Richland in his teens. He worked at the Ford garage in Wolf Point and the McCone Couty Road Department. He then worked for and retired from the Department of Transportation for the State of Montana.
After retirement, Vern became a go-getter. He would take Winnie to work and then go get her. He claimed that during his retirement he was on “sick time and vacation time”. He enjoyed shuttling cars for the Ford garage with Winnie.
Everyone knew Vern by his signature striped bib overalls and his shiny, white Ford pickups – a look he never steered from.
There should be a book of Vernisms because he always had the wit and humor to make you laugh and smile. He enjoyed the time with all his family but he had a very special bond with Isaac and looked forward to his facetime calls.
Vern continued to pray the Rosary daily for his family after Winnie’s passing.
Dad, grandpa, brother, and friend: thank you so much for being the best. We cherish many great memories of you and they will live in our hearts forever – a legend to never be forgotten.
A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point, Montana. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point. There will be a meal to follow at the church. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Scobey Cemetery.

Going to miss seeing Vern sitting at his picnic table or driving by the house waving. What a great guy he was. Hurts my heart to know he’s gone too, but he’s with the Lord and family and friends that passed on before him.
My condolences and prayers to all the family. God bless you all.

I will miss old Vern, he had the best story’s and they where all true because Vern told me that they where all true stories. I can tell you right now Jesus is shaking his head and saying Vern, Vern, Vern and laughing with him. He is the best. Sonny and Phyllis Douglas

Vern was one of a kind! He became my friend early on , and mostly my entertainment every morning at Ford garage for many years. He loved his kids and grandkids so much, and his and Winnie’s love for each other was something special. Those two were my Special lunch dates after they were done with doctors appointments in Glasgow , always lots of laughs and funny memories. It broke my heart to see them both realize that time was short for Winnie , but I will always remember the love they had for each other through the bad news and Vern’s support of her and the fact that they still smiled and teased each other . I will certainly miss you Vern. You gave me so many laughs and special little memories. Your fudge and raisin cookies were the best! I pray that all of you kids and grandkids know just how much you meant to him. Be blessed in his memories. He’s up there cutting up and being his silly self.
My sympathies to you all.

Dear Vern was one of a kind. He could respond to anything with great wit. The Rosary, Funeral and Burial was a honor event. I was glad to help out. The kids did a wonderful job planning and a great tribute.
Live, Jesus, in our hearts, FOREVER!
