Anita (Midge) Toavs was born on April 10, 1946 to C. R. and Ailee Thiessen in Glendive, MT. Early morning on October 30, 2014, at home with her loving husband Will and special sister Fran by her side, she took Jesus’ hand and went home to be with the Savior she loved and served. Her courageous battle with cancer was over. She has “fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7
Anita attended elementary and high school in Lambert. After graduating from high school, she attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID for a year. Then she attended and graduated from the college of Coiffure Arts in Billings, MT.
Will and Anita were married September 3, 1966. Their first years were spent in Larslan, MT, working on a farm. Then in 1969, they purchased a farm north of Wolf Point, where they raised 3 children, Kelly, Brent and Janelle. The joy of their lives are their wonderful grandchildren!
Every one of our blessings originate in the kind thoughts of our loving, heavenly father. One of our greatest blessings was in having Anita as a loving wife and mom. It is hard to put into words the essence of a life which brought us so much love, joy and happiness. Many of us knew Anita in positions such as church pianist at Bethel Mennonite Church, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, worker in the Ladies Aid and Christian Women’s Club. She was also active in the local 4-H club.
Her love for people, her generosity and her hospitality were outstanding qualities. She was very compassionate to all the people in her life, and very kind hearted. She had a sensitive heart, observant eyes and loving hands. She saw people through the eyes of Jesus. She would be His hands and feet. She had a servant’s heart. She took time for people.
Anita is survived by her loving husband, Will; son Kelly (Michelle) their 3 children, Wolf Point; son Brent, Wolf Point; daughter Janelle (Josh), their five children, Fairbanks, AK; her mother Ailee Theissen, Lambert; brother Jim (Judy) Thiessen, Lambert.
Anita was preceded in death by her father, C. R. Thiessen and her sister, Corlea.
In memory of Anita Toavs, memorials can be given to Lustre Christian High School, 294 Lustre Rd, Frazer, MT 59225.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. May you find comfort in God’s promise to soon “swallow up death forever” and to “wipe away the tears from all faces” (Isaiah 25:8)

So very sorry to hear about Midge. She always had a beautiful smile that I can remember from those Kindergarten days with Janelle and the banking day too. Cherish all those wonderful memories. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

I was so saddened to hear of Midgies passing. Seems I just saw her. We had such a nice visit brushing up on our home town of Lambert. She was probably one of the sweetest people you could ever know. May you find comfort knowing we will see our loved ones again. Your family will be in our prayers. We are so sorry.

Midge was a true lady and a wonderful inspiration to me. I will miss her so much. I’m sure everyone who knew her could say the same. She will leave her world a poorer place by her absence. The great thing is that I will see her again in eternity where there are no good-byes.

Dearest Willard and family. To each one of you our prayers are lifted up. We are so sorry for the great loss of your sweet, beautiful wife, daughter, mother and grandma. She is so loved. Your precious one is rejoicing in her promised eternal home resting in the arms of Jesus. No more pain, no more tears. She fought such a long, hard, painful cancer journey. It is you the family that bares the great pain as you walk this journey without her but one day you will be reunited with her to walk the streets of heaven. We love you and praise God that we were blessed to know and love Midge.
BRIAN & JOANN NELSON says
We were so very sad to hear of Midge’s passing. She was such a sweet and caring person. We didn’t know her well but we were neighbor’s in the rural community for many years. She always had time to visit no matter where you saw her and she was always genuinely interested when she asked, “How are you?” and then had time to listen to the answer. It’s so sad when we lose a loved one and in time your tears really will dry with God’s help. We can rely on the fact that we will see her again! PTL
