On June 20, 2014, our dear mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend left this world. Annette “Ann” Jane Lambert (Give Everything Away, Wa-Glusote Win) was an extraordinary, selfless, and elegant woman whom loved all her family and had many friends.
Ann was born October 27, 1951 in Poplar, Montana to Bernard “Barney” Lambert, Sr. and Sybil Irene (Bighorn) Lambert. She attended the Barbara Gilligan Elementary School and graduated from Brockton High School in 1969. After graduation, Ann began her career from the early age of 16 when she graduated from Brockton High School, she worked at the National Congress of American Indians in Washington, D.C. She attended Bacone College, Muskogee, Oklahoma and later graduated from Rocky Mountain College with a Bachelors in Secondary Education. Later, she again attended and graduated from Rocky Mountain College with a second Bachelor’s in Business Management. She pursued and obtained her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Her commitment to the Fort Peck Tribes and the people was evident in her positions as a student teacher for Poplar High School and instructor for Fort Peck Community College. Ann dedicated herself to stress how important it is to get an education.
Among her employment, she was the Fort Peck Tribes’ Oil & Gas Director, General Manager of A & S Construction and Development, Planning Assistant with the Fort Peck Tribes’ Planning Department, volunteer for over 20 years as a member of the Fort Peck Tribes’ Education Board of Directors and was recognized as one of the founders of Fort Peck Community College. She also held various other positions but she was most noted for her work as the ASDC Manager, the assistant for Chairman Stafne and was currently serving her second term as Vice Chairwoman.
Ann was a dedicated fan of the Brockton Warriors. It was evident in her wardrobe which contained green and white items or had the school logo. She made trips to see her grandson play football for the Montana State University Bobcats. She enjoyed traveling, sports, visiting and loved long conversations in any topic. Ann traveled to watch her nieces, nephews and grandchildren play basketball and enjoyed cheering on the Warriors or Bobcats.
Ann’s only child, Lana Lee, was born to her in 1973. She dreamed of the day she would become a grandmother, and her wish was answered on November 1, 1999 when her much loved grandson, Joseph John Lewis Mikkelsen was born. Ann had dreamed of Joseph before he was born and was surprised when her twin granddaughters were born, Jacie Payton Jo and Kristina Irene Marie Mikkelsen. She had a very special bond with Joseph and often talked about her granddaughters. She would often “cruise around” or take them out to dinner. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Annie”.
Ann’s family, relatives, extended family and friends, will always remember her as a compassionate, strong willed, hardworking, dedicated, fun, patient, respectful, polite individual who was always willing to help those in need.
Ann is now with her family that have gone before her, as she talked of them often. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard “Barney” Lambert, Sr. and Sybil (Bighorn) Lambert, a brother Maurice “Moose” Lambert and a sister Tammy (Lambert) Nygard.
She is survived by her only daughter, Lana (Lars) Mikkelsen and grandchildren, Joseph, Jacie, and Kristina Mikkelsen. Sisters, Bernadine Pease of Billings, MT; Susan (Val) Parker of Wolf Point, MT. Brothers, Bernard (Desi) Lambert of Brockton, MT and Ernest Joe “EJ” (Tammy) Lambert of Belcourt, ND.
Ann loved all her cousins that she grew up with and maintained close relationships with them. She loved them all dearly. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Our beautiful “Annie” will be greatly missed and is reunited with her mother and father whom she missed so very much. We love you and will miss your laughter, and encouragement but your teachings and wisdom are instilled in our hearts and minds.
A funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday, June 26 at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery. Dinner following interment at the James Black Dog Activity Center, Fort Kipp, MT.

Tusen takk for alt du gjorde Ann. Hvil i fred.

Ann will be missed when encouragement is needed, she could be creative and silly when a good belly laugh was needed to lighten the mood . she listened with her heart when I faltered in faith of myself. Ann spoke with people like it was their last day on earth…everyone was special to her and that’s how she made you feel. Peace be with you, Ann.
