Claudette Joyce Chase, age 45, of Poplar, MT passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Poplar Hospital.
Claudette, the only daughter of Freddie Chase and Diane Martin was born on August 8, 1968 in Poplar, MT. Claudette carries the Indian name Two Day Woman; she was raised the Indian way.
Claudette loved to dance at pow-wows, you always seen her with her mom, Diane dancing. She was the Ft. Kipp Princess attendant and Oil Celebration Princess.
Claudette attended the Special Olympics in South Bend Indiana. She received five gold medals in different categories. Vice President George Bush was the special guest to do the closing ceremonies for the Special Olympics in 1987.
She attended Poplar Schools throughout the years and graduated from Poplar High School in 1988.
In 2006, her brothers and mother honored Claudette at a pow-wow with a special and give away. She was always teasing around with her brother, family, and friends. Everyone that knew Claudette enjoyed her company. She loved watching and playing with all her nephews and nieces. When she was younger she would always walk over to her Grandma Eunice’s house and check on everyone there. Claudette enjoyed doing yarn work, collecting knick knacks, stuffed animals, cruising around, playing machines at TJ’s and loved taking lots of pictures. She was a great supporter of the Boxing Club that her Grandpa Jerry Alfrey helped coach. She was always cheering on the boys and was proud of them all! She had a doll she was given as a child that she called her daughter and named her Claudina.
She enjoyed being around all the Dialysis Nurses and Doctors that helped her. The nurses at the dialysis unit in Poplar she thought of them all as her sisters.
Claudette is survived by her mother, Diane Martin of Poplar; five brothers, Richard (Jackie) Chase of Wolf Point, Nathan (Tammy) Chase, Jimmy John (Liz) Chase of Poplar, Terrance Chase, Richard Chase of New Town, ND; aunties, Elenor Chase, Annette Chase, Frances (Valdine) Black Tail, Yvonne Chase of New Town, ND, Sandra Birthmark, Rose Morsette, Maureen (Brad) Grayhawk; grandparents, Tiny Draszt, Melinda Fast Horse and family, Verbina Savior and family, and Julian Shields and family all of Poplar; uncles, Sheldon Birthmark of Poplar, Virgil (Denise) Chase of New Town; adopted uncles, Tommy Christian, and John Morsette; adopted brother, Kenny Trottier; nieces and nephews, Chelsea and Dickey Chase of Wolf Point, Lance, Nate Jr., Shannon and Shauna Chase all of Poplar; grandchildren, Daniel Morales, Aiden, Nate III, and Caleb Chase; cousins, Jonnie Harrington and boys, Leanda Birthmark and boys, William Birthmark and kids, Robert Birthmark, Jennifer, Heather, Sheldon, Norman, Sheena, Jennifer, and Tasha Birthmark; extended family members, Birthmarks, Shields, Scotts, Johnson, Fast Horse, Bad Temper Bears, Reddoors, Red Boys, Smokers, Ryans, Hernandez, Martells, Danks, Fredricks, and Blacks; and special friends, Danna (Bill) Runs Above and Georgia (Tommy) Atkinson.
She is preceded in death by her father, Freddie Chase; grandparents, Eunice and Jerry Alfrey and Clevend Owens, Jr.; aunts, Clarise Birthmark, Joyce Birthmark, and Sharon Owens; and uncles, Nolen Birthmark, Lynn C. Birthmark, Sr., Darrel “Chubby” Birthmark, James Birthmark, and Kermit Birthmark; and cousin, Lynn Birthmark “Chepa”.
Claudette had many relatives to many to mention and sorry if we left anyone out it wasn’t intentional.
She will be missed very dearly by her loved ones especially her mother, Claudette was her best friend and baby!

Claudette holds a special place in all the dialysis staff. We all loved her and will miss her terribly. I always share my family pics wit her and i luved makin her laff. Her laff alone made my day brighter, n her smile lifted everyone. Always in my heart Miss Claudette.
