On November 6, 2020 our Lord and Savior called one of his Angels, Conrad Wayne Scott, back to Paradise. Conrad was born to Melvin (Dennis) Scott Jr. and Marilyn Martell on March 29, 1974. Since the age of 2, he was raised by his paternal grandmother, Artie CrazyBull until he became of age.
Conrad attended Poplar Schools and Graduated in May of 1992. While in school, he participated in cross country, football and track and field. He was a devoted catholic and served as an altar boy for the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar, Montana. While growing up, his grandmother taught him his traditional ways while also learning to stitch star quilts and bead to name a couple.
In August 1992, he joined the United States Marine Corps and after graduating Basic Training from Camp Pendleton, he was stationed in Okinawa Japan then to Australia for six months only to return back to Japan. After returning back to stateside, he was stationed in North Carolina till he was discharged. He then attended and studied at the Fort Peck Community College. In November of 2016, he married Amanda Olson. That bond grew to include Amanda’s children Murraya, Shanice, Alline and Markie whom he loved as his own. He was a kind and loving partner to his spouse, as well as an amazing father.
Some of Conrad’s many employments include working with the Fort Peck Community College Daycare and the Poplar Summer Food Program with his adopted sister Mary Plante. At the Fort Peck Housing Authority, he served as the Chairman of the Housing Commission. He volunteered for the Poplar Community Organization where he served as Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. He would also help the various Powwow committees where ever help was needed, especially being their bingo caller. He was an active member of the Poplar Indian Days Committee as well. While working for the Fort Peck Tribes, he worked for the Diabetes Program as an Outreach Tech and most recently as the Community Service Elders Program Coordinator, where he spent long hours with our reservations elders. He would always refer to them as his elders.
Conrad enjoyed going to bingo, playing machines, visiting family and friends and listening to music. But most of all, he enjoyed helping out wherever help was needed.

Conrad will be missed in the surrounding communities. He worked with my bother at the Diabetics center. You would see him all over the community and powwows. He would come to the Senior center and hold Bingo for us seniors. He always had a kind word to share with people. He was a hard working young man. We will miss him. Thank you Conrad for sharing your life and time with all the people in this world. Condolence’s to his wife and their children.

Conrad had a kind heart and love playing machines. He was always up for a road trip no matter if it was family being flown out or just to get something to eat. Conrad loved eating. If someone needed help he would help them out the best he can and if he needed help it was hard to ask for but he asked. I remember when he wanted his divorce from my sister and he didnt have no money. I helped him out to pay for the divorce and the money order. Here he ended up playing the machines. But I dont care he used the money I gave him to do that. As long as he was enjoying life. I have alot of good memories of him as a hard worker, lover for food if you didnt have food he wouldnt be there, he had a smile on his face you couldnt forget. One time he came in my house and seen this glass cross hanging I had on my wall. He said you still have that? I said yeah. He said can I have that it was your grandma arties? So I grabbed it off the wall and handed it to him. It looked like it gave him some peace. No matter what he did at the end of his life, the rumors and talk. I known Conrad most of my life and I can say he tried. He tried to live it to fullest, he wanted happiness, he wanted a family he never had, he worked hard for his money, and it is so sad that it had to end this way. I’m glad we spent the time together as we did because his dad and my mom didnt get along in their lives. One time I asked Conrad while we were driving to Billings to go see my mom when she got flown out. I said Conrad how are you a Scott again? He told me remember my dad is Dennis and your mom and him are brother and sister. I forgot that because our parents held a grudge over each other when they were growing up and their dad died. From that I learned to forgive because your not promised tomorrow. And yesterday was history. Life goes on. Rest in paradise with the rest of the family that made their journey but until I make my cuz watch over. I love you, I miss you, and I will see you again.
