Curtis Dean Bird passed away at the age of 51 in Poplar MT, on Sept. 22, 2021
Curtis Dean Bird was born on March 28, 1970 to Corlene Bird in Stanley, North Dakota. He was the youngest out of four sons. He received his Indian name, Mah ii shu Xaradagush (Swift Eagle) around the age of 1, from his Grandfather Joseph Black Bear.
Curtis lived in New Town, North Dakota with his mother, his grandfather Steve Bird Sr, and his brothers until the age of 3. Curtis, his mother, and brothers then moved to Oakland, California for 8 years. They moved to Poplar, Montana for a short time before moving back to California. They moved around to different places before returning to Wolf Point, Montana where he lived the rest of his life. There he had 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls. He liked to be around his children and grandchildren. Curtis enjoyed going to powwows and listening to powwow music.
Curtis is survived by his mother, Corlene Bird (John Kraus) of Glendive MT, his brothers, Clifford Bird, Pete Bird Sr (Nicole Longee) of Poplar MT, his children Stephen Bird, Darrell Bird, Lakota Bird, Tyray Bird all of Wolf Point MT, Summer Bird of Glendive MT and his many grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brother Paul Bird, and son Delvin Bird.
