Daniel Ray McKay, our beloved son, brother, uncle and grandpa went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Billings, MT.
Daniel was born in Denver, CO on November 12, 1989 to Phoebe McKay. Daniel loved his Denver broncos, watching movies, listening to his CD’s or his MP3 player and songs off of his phone. He liked to sing and clap his hands and dance. He really loved spending time with his boys as he would call his favorite nephews Kyle and Tristan, along with his other nieces and nephews. He liked helping around the house when he was up to it. He loved to pray for people that he came into contact with and would share his story about what the Lord did for him. Daniel was never ashamed of his belief in Jesus Christ. Daniel also liked to dress up and wear his leather coats of which he had his own collection of. He took much pride in being an uncle and a grandpa. Daniel’s greatest accomplishment was when he graduated from Brockton High School in 2008.
Daniel is survived by his mom Phoebe, step dad Denny, dad Keith Olson Sr., brothers Lawrence D. Hamilton Jr., Patrick H. McKay III, sisters Theresa (Gordon) Brown, Autumn (Thomas) Arthur, nephews Kyle, Tristan, Brenden, Larin, Nikolas, Cameron, Conner, Walter; nieces LaVanchie, LaRae, Teresia, Geralyn, Melody; grandkids Kendal, Kallen, Kaylyn, Wendel, Tefton; aunts Julia Carpenter, Daisy Fisher, Margaret Olson; his mommy Theresa (Arthur) Sun Rhodes; uncles Allen Olson, Robert Olson, Levi Olson, Ronalee Carpenter and family. Daniel had so much family along with adopted family too great to name, please forgive us we don’t mean to leave anyone out. Just know he loved each and every one of you. He was preceded in death by his grandpa Gerald G. Melbourne and brother Gerald Young. Daniel will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Daniel had a good sense of humor. I teased him about being a Momma’s boy and he finally admitted it. Then he asked, “How about you. Are you the oldest in your family?” I told him no. I’m the youngest and he looked at me for a second then started to laugh. He said, “You’re a Momma’s boy too.” Daniel was a good man. Nothing better than a good sense of humor. Daniel’s sense of humor was God given. He had a tough life but a bigger smile. Condolences to the family for the loss of Daniel.

I knew Danny from age 2, when he bravely let me draw his blood for lab. He was a ray of sunshine as I watched him grow up. This community is a better place because he lived, God’s gift to us. May God comfort Phoebe, a beautiful, loving and loyal Mom. Vaya con Dios sweet Danny, until we meet again…

There was no purer soul than Daniel’s! He faced all of life’s challenges with such dignity and grace. His joy in living was infectious and I will love him and miss him every day. We will meet again and see him happy, healthy and whole with his beloved Heavenly Father! He was blessed to have a mother who fought for him every day of his life!
