On Oct.2nd, 2015, Darla “Ladybug” went to be with the Lord. Darla Jeannette Cantrell was born on October 17,1965 in Poplar Mt. to Judy Rae Archambeau and Milton Charles Cantrell. She was the 2nd child of Judy Rae’s 5 children. These children by nickname and in order from oldest to youngest…….Babe, Ladybug, Cacabutt,Pooh, and Porky. Lady was a lover of people, of music, of dance, and of adventure. She resided in Portland Oregon primarily for the last 16 yrs. She did move around but she considered Portland her home.
Her education began at Clover creek elementary school in Puyallup Washington, she attended Poplar Schools in poplar mt.and also ,Paris Gibson Jr. High in Great Falls, Mt, and Chief Leschi school in Tacoma Washington. To finish off her academic career she ALSO attended job corp. in Astoria Oregon. Unfortunately school just wasn’t her favorite thing .But that didn’t stop her from receiving her GED, and with that she was able to attain culinary secondary education, and cooking was her true passion. I believe that all who knew her would agree. If she wasn’t busy doing other things you could always find her cooking something. Definitely Judy Rae’s daughter not only with cooking but in her attributes. She had a gift for bringing people together, and loved them unconditionally with no qualms…..She loved beyond measure.
Darla was the apple of Gram Marie’s eyes, and they were together almost since day one. I believe we could say that Gram spoiled ladybug for many years. So happy that they are in heaven together forever now . She lived with Gram for long periods of time while in poplar.
Lady especially enjoyed pow wows and she loved to fancy dance. She was amazing and Gram sewed all of Darla’s dresses and beaded all her regalia. This has always been a beautiful time for us to reflect upon.
Darla also gave birth to children in which she loved with her whole being. But unfortunately she did not get to spend her life with all of her children. Her children in order as follows: 12/5/82,5/5/85,9/7/87,8/16/94,9/16/95,10/16/96,2/19/00,5/17/01. God has been always faithful in watching over her children and loving them in Darla’s absence. But She was very proud of her children. Each and every one often receiving photos and letters keeping her informed. This brought her joy to know that Kay Crosby was sent from heaven, and loved her children unconditionally. We will forever be grateful for her.
Darla was preceded in death by Grandpa Otto and Gram Marie Jones Cantrell, Grandpa Paul and Grandma Belle Jay Edeline Atkinson, father Milton Charles Cantrell, mother Judy Rae Archambeau Mitchell, and father Henry David Mitchell, and baby sister Henrietta Marie Mitchell.
She’s survived by : Brother Russell Wayne Cantrell,Sister Tomi Rae Mitchell Peterson,Brother Robert Henry Mitchell, and her children: Russ’ett Lynn, Janelle Marie ,Courtney Lee (Cantrell), Colleen Joy , Clanci Fawn, Tudie Raine, Ritchard Ben Jacob,Malia Le Rae (Crosby) and her grandchildren from Russ’ett and a grandson Jose Grifaldo from Janelle
Darla will be missed very, very, much but God had to call her home. Thanks to everybody who ever helped and loved our dear bug.

Is Darla related to Milton Cantrell, who attended Immaculate Conception Indian Mission School in Stephan South Dakota? I would like to correspond with family members. Milton was a close friend of mine at Stephan.
