Don’t cry because Big D from Wounded Knee will always be there to make you smile…
“Who here has a smile for Big D from Wounded Knee?” Aye, I’m just joking.
Delano John Clancy was born into this world to Mary Fern Clancy and Emil Laverdure. After their passing he was raised by his grandmothers, LoRaine Track and Esther King whom he loved very much. He was raised like a warrior, because he always took care of his family when it came time. “As long as we all had shells and cheese.” Delano was one of a kind that touched our spirits and he always helped out anyone that ever needed anything even if he did not have the money, he would put his hands together and say “let’s hustle” and give that person what they needed even of he didn’t eat that day. He always put others before himself, he had many numerous friends and family that he always checked on. He had a good sense of humor and a big heart full of love.
As the years went by he later moved in with Jonny Laverdure and Daniel “Sissy” Laverdure. He later met Elisha TalksDifferent, from this union they had Lori Ann TalksDiffernt and Seth Emil Laverdure. He later met Terry Linville and had their daughter Lamika, whom he always called “kittens”.
Delano John Clancy will forever be dancing in our hearts. He would say smile because it’s not the end, I will see you again.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, Mary Fern Clancy and Emil Laverdure.
He is survived by his children, Lori (Ryan), Seth and Lamika; uncle John Laverdure, Erica, Sandy, Megan; sisters Theresa Beecher, Reese Beecher. Uncle Steve Lilley and cousins Miles and Congo.

I will always remember the little boy who came to sunday school at the first baptist church and just a month ago or so when i saw Delano he talked about his time in miss Beulahs sunday school class and always remembered what she taught him. He always reminded me that he was baptized at that same little church which I am do proud that he remembered those times. He always looked out for my mom if he was around the store and saw someone asking her for money, he would tell them nobody should ever bother her for anything because she was his sunday school teacher, he always looked out for her and my mom was proud of him for always remembering her and his time learning about Jesus. Delano is at peace now and his daily pain is gone and I know he is with Jesus.

Big D. All the messages here truly reflect your nature. A genuine man. A good, humble, and gentle man at heart but still quite a rascal. Your presence will be missed. Thanks for your many kindnesses. I am happy to have made your acquaintance during this short time we spend as men. I wish you well as you travel beyond this land of heartaches and disappointments.

First man to welcome me home here, he gave my baby a blanket, and was family since. Always cared to ask about everyone and wish us well. He was always wanting to get things done like when I found him painting Wadopana seats or giving me a hand anytime.
And what a smile.
Miss you brother.

Big D, I will always remember you and many memories we made together as kids. I can still hear you hollering at me from across the parking lot or sneaking up behind me and scaring the crap out of me. Though we chose different paths to travel in our lives, you were always there to lend a helping hand when needed. Going to miss you D. Until we meet again
