Denzel E. Squires, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, MT.
Denzel was born in Poplar, MT on April 4, 1941 to Clifford Squires and Emma Redd. He graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1960 and went straight into the Air Force.
During his time with the Air Force he was the Fire Chief in Glasgow, MT for 2 years and also where he met Lillian LaVerne Tuttle. They married in 1975 in Wolf Point, MT. With this union came the addition of Lillian’s three sons, whom Denzel raised as if they were his own, Rodney, David and Travis. Their marriage was a full one, dedicating themselves to fostering children. They continued this until Lillian’s passing in 1987.
In 1988 Denzel married Myrna Brooks, and took under his wing her children Randy and Cynthia Firemoon and Carl LaClaire. They later divorced.
Along with being a Fire Chief, Denzel also worked with the BIA as a social worker and worked at A&S Industries until his retirement in 1995 due to health complications. It was after his retirement that he became a foster parent again. He adopted Andrew, Kira and Tyrone and raised them as his own. He loved having a house full of kids.
Denzel enjoyed camping in the summers and traveling. He would follow Pow-wows from Saskatchewan to Mexico. But most of all he enjoyed having a cup of coffee while visiting with friends and family.
Denzel is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Emma; his brother Marvin; wife Lillian.
Denzel is survived by his adopted children Andrew, Kira and Tyrone.
