Doris Larson, age 96, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Scobey.
Doris was born on April 1, 1916 in Fingal, ND to Edward and Emma Mahlum. She attended and graduated Wolf Point High School. She was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church of Wolf Point.
On January 19, 1937, Doris married James H. Larson in Wolf Point. Together they owned and operated Larson’s Jewelry. In their spare time, they enjoyed taking fishing and hunting trips. They were married for 68 years until James’ passing in 2005.
Doris was very active throughout her life, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, the Peace Circle, as well as the First Lutheran Church. She had a great love for children, and her garden.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Linda) Larson of Fort Collins, CO, Mary (Bob) Green of Cape Coral, FL, and Mark (Sandra) Larson of Havre, MT; brother, Dennis (Darlene) Mahlum of Richland, WA; and a sister-in-law, Lee Mahlum of Wolf Point, MT; 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Larson; sisters, Evelyn Holum, Francis Harrington, and Christel Marsh; brothers, Rodell Mahlum, Willard Mahlum, Douglas Mahlum; and parents, Edward Mahlum and Emma Fossen Mahlum.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 23 at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point, MT. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point. Should friends desire, memorials in honor of Doris may be made to the Daniels Memorial Healthcare Center of Scobey, MT or the First Lutheran Church of Wolf Point.
