On October 11, 2020, Esther (Hoch) Anderson, age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep and is now in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. She was born on July 31, 1928 to August and Hulda (Ortmann) Hoch in Wolf Point, Montana.
On July 20, 1952, Esther married Richard D. Anderson in Wolf Point, Montana. Together they raised four children. Esther was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always very involved with and loved to spend time with her family. Esther and Richard spent 50 years together before his passing in 2002.
Esther spent her life in the Wolf Point Community. She was very involved in her church and spent many years serving on the food committee, which she loved to be a part of. She enjoyed being a part of church events throughout the year, she loved gardening and putting together a rock garden filled with moss roses. Music was always such a large part of Esther’s life and she loved everything from Gospel to the “Oldies”. She was a huge fan of Elvis, baseball, and horseshoe. One of her favorite times of year was the World Series, but she also loved the Wild Horse Stampede. During this time, all of the family would gather and it was a very special occasion for her to have everyone together.
Most of all, Esther loved the farm that she was raised on with her brothers and sisters and would always speak very fondly of the memories she had there. Those who knew Esther, probably remember the love she held for an ice cold “Pepsi”. Esther was known to drink “Pepsi” every day; back in the day, her and Richard were commonly known as the “Pepsi-Cola couple”.
Esther was truly an amazing woman; she never had a complaint about anything and was never known to have a cross word. She had the most infectious smile and laugh and the best sense of humor. She was always very witty and loved to joke.
Esther is survived by her children, Kathy Conner of Wolf Point, Montana, Carol (Tom) Fender of Billings, Montana, Colleen (Darrel) Borgen of Bismark, North Dakota, and Wayde (Colleen) of Sisseton, South Dakota; her sister Evelyn Knight of Rapid City, South Dakota; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Hulda Hoch; her loving husband, Richard Anderson; an infant son, Wesley Anderson; 6 brothers, Emil, Elias, Elvern, Ervin, Elmer, and Eddie; and 2 sisters, Elsie and Ella.
“I still believe in Amazing Grace, that There is Power in the Blood,
that He Walks with Me and he talks with me, that Because He Lives,
I can face tomorrow, all because of the Old Rugged Cross.”
Cremation has taken place and a family memorial has been planned for a later date. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements and condolences for the family can be left by using the form below.

So many memories of Esther come back – visits at her house, at the church, growing up and seeing her in the kitchen. We send condolences to all her family, remembering the sorrow of a Mother’s passing. May The Lord be your comfort. Hold on to the promises in Scripture. John 14. John 11. I Thessalonians. I’m so glad I got to see her last summer and again in winter at Faith Home services after she moved back. She recognized me! We love you.

So very sorry for your loss of Esther. She was an amazing woman with so much love to give. I will cherish all the memories I have from putting puzzles together with her, getting the ends of the fresh bread that she baked, playing horseshoes, driving around eating ice cream cones only to have her hit the brakes each lick I took, and also sharing a cold Pepsi with her daily. Hold on to all the memories. She will forever be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, her friends. She was such a amazing person. I believe she was one of the few people we met when we came to wolf point. She was a very loving and caring person. She will live on in all that knew her and so many fond memories.
