A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 25 at the Lindsey Memorial Church in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery. Geri was born on April 8, 1949 to Stanley, Sr. and Irene (Smith) Hollow Horn. She was an enrolled member of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribe of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana.
Geri lived and attended school until she graduated from Poplar High School in May of 1967. She left for school at Bacone College in Maskagee, Oklahoma where she would meet her future husband, Ken Barber. They were married April 10, 1971 in Gallup, NM.
Geri enjoyed cooking and taught her daughters, sisters, and nieces how to make yummy enchiladas. Geri made a mean Navajo taco that was so good! Geri was an excellent seamstress and had a small side business which was “Geri’s Alterations”. Geri also crocheted afghans, pot holders, and throws for her family and friends. Geri liked to travel extensively to visit with friends and family. But most of all Geri would pray and share God’s word with whoever was in need. She was always willing to go pray and help in whatever way she could. Geri loved the Lord and it showed in her kind and loving ways. She was concerned about the spiritual welfare of her family, friends and relatives. Geri was a prayer warrior for the Lord! God Bless.

Ken, Verlynda, Crystal & Shane & families: Geri was a very good friend of mine way back to school days at Poplar. When she & her family lived in Poplar we would often get together with our families & visit, eat, laugh – many memories. I know Geri is dancing in Heaven right now. Our deep and heartfelt condolences to the family of Geri Barber. We will always remember her.

I knew Geraldine from Upward Bound back in 1967. I knew her as “Missy”. She was such a beautiful person. In just those few short weeks she held a place in my heart. I wrnt looking for her to Poplar one time. She introduced me to her daughter, Verlynda. She always told me & Verlie she was going to name her first daughter after us. I am fortunate to have known such a beautiful person inside & out. I will forever hold that place sacred & fill it with gratitude, respect, faith, & God’s love. May the Creator hold u in His loving arms through this difficult time. My prayers will be with you all.
