Leland C. Warmbrod went to be with the angels on October 3, 2016 with his loving wife Dorothy at his side. Leland was born on January 29, 1932 in Wolf Point, Montana, to John and Myrtle Warmbrod. He was raised on Wolf Creek and made Wolf Point his lifelong home where he proudly raised his family. On June 5, 1960, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Podoll. Together they raised their children Linda and Loren. He also helped to raise many grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud.
Leland was a farmer. When he was not farming, you would find Leland sitting downtown at the round table with his friends drinking coffee and talking about farming. Leland was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of Eastern Star, City Council member, member of the Elks and the First Lutheran Church. He loved to play pinochle, camping at Fort Peck on weekends with Skip and Shirley, watching the news, reading history books, and snapping tons of pictures with his disposable cameras.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorothy; one sister Lois Baker; children Loren (Becca) Warmbord, Linda Warmbrod Martinez; grandchildren Michael, Blake, Annalyssa, Dylan, Matt and Jodi; sister-in-law Betty Nei; sister-in-law Edith Warmbrod and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John and sister Jean and his parents.

Dear Dorothy, Linda and Soren,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the family. My first instinct was to hop in the car and be there- The Warmbrod’s have always felt like family! Lots of warm and wonderful memories of holidays, weekends, and Eastern Star functions together. Lee always had a sincere smile, warm heart and easy laugh. Always interested in what us kids were up to!
Since Joe cannot travel, I need to stay here, but know I am thinking of you and lifting you in prayer. I picture Lee in heaven playing pinochle w Skip and Shirley at Fort Peck, drinking coffee and talking about this year’s harvest. Hugs and much love.
Jim Gabrielson says
As Kari said. Lee was part of the Family. Our prayers are with you all. We too cannot be there, but will be thinking of you.
Jerri Grimsrud says
So sorry to hear of Leland’s passing. The Wolf Creek extended family as we knew it slips further and further away. Thinking and praying for all of you, Dorthy, Linda, Loren and grandchildren. As well as a friend and neighbor, I remember Leland as our bus driver. He and his brother Jack had incredible patience with the Wolf Creek bus kids!! Hugs to you all.
Harold D. Greer says
Dorothy,
I served in the army with Leland–Camp King. In fact, a group of us took a Christmas tour to Rome, Italy, in 1954. Leland was genuine and down-to-earth. It’s been many years since the fifties, but I’ll always remember what a great guy your husband was.
