Leona Adams, age 59, of Poplar, MT was called back to the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Poplar Hospital.
Ella, the daughter of Clarence and Loretta (Abraham) Adams was born on February 2, 1954 in Poplar. She attended Brockton Schools until the 10th grade. In 1968, she went to Mormon Replacement in Washington. IN 1971, she went to Job Corps in Portland, OR. She lived in Williston, ND from 1973 to 1979 then in 1980 to 1987. She lived in Fort Kipp, MT then moved to Poplar, where she resided until her death. In the spring of 1998, she received her GED from the Fort Peck Community College and continued on to receive her Associate Degree in Education in May 2003. She was a Teacher’s Assistant in Poplar Elementary School from 2003 to 2004. She then worked for the Fort Peck Tribes at the Poplar Head Start.
Ella enjoyed playing machines at the Silver Wolf Casino, spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was very passionate about her cigarettes, Tim Horton’s coffee, and her Ipod. She was very kind hearted, had a good sense of humor and always tried her best to cheer someone up.
Elle is survived by her children, Brian Adams, Fellini (Charles) Adams, Violet (Doug) Adams, Kristen Adams, and Brandon (Tamara) Jefferson; grandchildren, Whitlee Rose, Myron Victor Jerome, Richard Robert, AnJulie Amya, Laykin Lainy, and Chase Peter; brother, Harold “Buddy” (Carolyn) Adams; sisters, Clarice (Clyde) Perry, Edith Adams, and Claudia (Will) Reese; adopted brother, Bobby Black Dog; aunt, Sylvia Brown Shield; and uncle, Clarena Freeman.
Ella is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Loretta Adams; brother, Leo Walking Eagle, Jr.; sisters, Linda Lethbridge, Helen Heck, and Sandra Shanta; nephew, Kevin Walking Eagle; and niece, Doretta Mae White Cloud.
She will be missed very dearly.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Monday, December 9 at the Fort Kipp Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 10 at the Fort Kipp Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom Leona, I met her while I was going to college and I will always remember the evening study sessions at her house. I also got the chance to work with her at the Head Start for awhile and I enjoyed having her as a friend. I will be praying for strength for her family during this time.
