I am sorry for your loss, Buddy was a co-worker of mine at BIA. Sure was nice person. We shared some good conversations and pretty much ended up in some good laughs. Every now and then when he would call the BIA for something & I would happen to answer the phone & he always knew it was me & ask how things were going. May the lord comfort your children and grandchildren during this difficult time. Rest in Paradise my friend. 1

When Mary transferred to Ft. Peck from the Phoenix Area, she was nervous about meeting new people and uncertain as to how she would be received. Standing at the door of the Agency was a tall thoughtful-looking man with a gentle smile; he held the door open and she felt more welcomed. She was later to find out that man was Bud Boyd, who unbeknownst to both of them at the time, was to become her brother in-law.
That small gesture might not seem like much, but it helps define who Bud was: a quiet, unassuming man who was always ready to help another.
He was a man of compassion, a Marine with courage and valour. A man with love and respect for his wife Linda, his son, daughter, sister, brothers, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Buddy was a loyal personal friend. He was a great story teller with a tremendous sense of humor. My personal favorite invloved him, Linda and a Thanksgiving turkey.
It’s hard to express the depth of love from a brother to a brother. He was the Buddy Jim from our childhood who played, laughed and scrapped with Big John, myself, Rob, Dave, Judge, and Little John. He was the gentle Buddy Jim who adored his baby sister Debbie, and his mom and dad.
It’s hard to say goodbye to someone who is part of yourself. He now joins his beloved wife Linda, our parents, brothers Rob and Judge and all our relatives who’ve gone before.
May Buddy Jim be welcomed into paradise by our Lord Jesus Christ for all eternity.
We shall miss you, Bud.
Your brother Mike

To my Cousins, Jon, David, Mike, Llewellyn and Debi; you were in my thoughts and prayers when I learned of Bud’s passing. I so enjoyed working with Bud during my few short years with the BIA, it was reassuring knowing that I had a big brother figure with me at work. He would make a point of saying “Good Morning” everyday, and he would stop in on his breaks and we would visit. Of course, telling me funny stories in his quiet way. I chuckled when I read Mike’s touching, yet funny account of a Thanksgiving story, I could imagine Bud telling this story, and I chuckled. I was always proud of him for the strength he had within him, he did not let having a prosthetic hold him back from working hard and accomplishing what he set his mind to do. I am so proud to say that he, his brothers and the majority of my men cousins, on our Half Red side had proudly served their country, their reservation and their communities. His family will miss him greatly, but we will all see him again, when it’s our turn to go home. Love you all, your Cousin Trivian
