Monty Pearl LeVay Fisher of Miles City formerly of Poplar passed away January 3, 2020 at the Billings Clinic at the age of 86.
Monty was born in Poplar, Montana on April 2, 1933 and resided there for most of her life until they retired, moving to Miles City in 2011. Monty married Russell James Fisher in August 17, 1957 in Poplar. This union spanned nearly 59 years with Jim’s passing in 2016. Three children, Ed, Bobby and Julie were born to this marriage. Monty devoted the majority of her life to being a farm wife and mother. She and Jim did everything together. With hard work and support of each other they operated the farm and ranch.
She was a Mom and Grandma in every meaning of the word with her nurturing, supporting, encouraging, teaching, comforting and caring ways, not only for her children and grandchildren but with any kid around. She loved them all. Monty was known for her cooking and baking as she had a special gift. If you ever stopped by the house for coffee or for a meal, you always had a cookie, cake or pie and you never left hungry. Grandkids have fond memories of picking chokecherries with Grandma so she could make them syrup for pancakes. If you ever needed help making something, you called Monty. She enjoyed good old country music and dancing; her and Jim missing very few. She also liked sewing, playing cards, rodeos, and watching Jeopardy. She was a strong woman with great faith who in times of others needs would put those before her own. She will be greatly missed.
Monty is survived by her children: Ed (Lynette), Bobby and Julie; grandchildren: Jake, Michael (Cara), and Shelby; great grandchildren Destiny, Jacob and Haylee.

I think, Trudy said it best above. I never met up with Monty in Poplar when I lived there or was just there for a visit that she didn’t take a minute to visit and leave with a smile on her face.
