Marvin Lee Eagle his birth name also known as Paul Freeman a name given to him by his foster parents in Portland, Oregon passed away, age 48, on June 26 at 12:05 a.m. at NEMHS Hospital in Poplar.
Paul lived with his foster parents since he was 3 years of age until he was 26 years old then he returned to the Fort Peck Reservation, when he came home he first stayed at the New Life Mission. After he became adjusted to reservation life, he learned who his relations were. He began working with his cousin Donny Weinberger III cutting wood and helping him with numerous other jobs. He also did yard work for many people.
He enjoyed being with his relations and friends. He loved going fishing with his cousin Donny and also to basketball games. Paul stayed with many different families and helped them with groceries. The Good Soldier family adopted him. His favorite saying “I broke my beak”, Paul was known as “Eaglet”. His favorite DVD was “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou”.
Paul became sick with cancer and suffered with his condition for several years. His sister Mary Ann began taking care of him, making sure he made his cancer treatments, etc. She also began taking him to church at Morning Star Baptist Church. On Easter Sunday of this year Paul gave his life to the Lord and following this his cancer went into remission. However, because of the deterioration of his esophagus and having to have a feeding tube in his stomach, complication set in. Before he passed away he shared with his sister that he saw angels in his hospital room. Paul lived a relatively short life and suffered, but in the end he found peace and comfort in the Lord.
Paul is survived by his sister Mary Ann; his brothers Emmett Buckles, Richard Buckles and Arnold Eagle; his son Marvin Lee Freeman, Jr.; his daughter Roberta Shine Freeman and five grandchildren. Kenneth Eagle, Sr. and family, Donald Weinberger III and family, Aunt Darlene Youpee and family.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother Rose Alvira Eagle.
