Raymond Joseph Brown, Sr., 33 years old, went home to Heaven on August 7, 2011 to be with all his relatives who passed on before him.
He was born in Poplar on December 15, 1977 to Mazie Ogle Youngbird and Thomas “Pudd” Brown. He was an identical twin to his brother Michael T. Brown. Raymond was raised in Poplar by his mother and stepfather Arnold Youngbird. He attended and graduated from the Poplar School in 1996. After graduation he went onto college in SIPI in Albuquerque, New Mexico and FPCC in Poplar, Montana.
Raymond held many jobs. He was currently working for the Fort Peck Tribes Commodity Food Program. He also worked for the Poplar Schools as a cook for 6 years. He was an avid fire fighter for 12 years and he also worked for the forestry in Oregon.
Raymond enjoyed watching his children Indian Dance, listening to pow-wow and other music, playing pool, basketball, cruising, chilling with his brothers, cousins and friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
His is survived by his wife Deserae and his children Raymond “Baby Ray” Jr., Siouxmani and Sage Brown all from Poplar. His mother and stepfather Mazie and Arnold Youngbird, his father Thomas “Pudd” (Darleen) Brown, all from Poplar. His maternal grandmother Reba Ogle from Poplar. Grandparents, Gloria and Robert Garcia from San Jose, CA. His brothers: Myron (Belle) Olson, Morris “Robbie” (Neva) Olson, Michael (Red Willow) Brown, Jason (Sierra) Brown, all from Poplar. Leslie (Misty) Ogle from Busby, MT. His uncles Raymond “Abby” Ogle from Poplar and Elmer (Renita) Ogle from Busby. Aunts Mary (Greg) Plante, Judy (Arnie) Ogle, Shari Ogle all from Poplar, Ronnette Red Boy and Williamette “Billie Jo” Ogle from Wolf Point. All his cousins and their families, John, Stephanie, Aaron, Louis, James, Lyssa, Daniel IR, Daniel O, Lance C., Launa, Markie, Nikolas, Conner, Cameron, William, Krysta, Trenton, and Charles; all his nieces, nephews and his extended families to numerous to mention. Also, his family on his dad’s side.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Raymond Ogle Sr. and paternal grandparents Bill and Anna Coulter, his uncles: Leonard “Oscar” Ogle, Lloyd “Slugger” Ogle and Aunt Jewel Ogle, cousins Whitney Ogle and Brandon Red Boy.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. We love you Raymond.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, August 12 at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13 also at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery.
Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
